Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM18042612)

1 Answer

Hello Bob, for the display problem you would need a new display board WP9782455, for the keypad problem the glass keypad console has ribbon harness connectors that connect to the display board, they can be checked but if worn the keypad/console ( 9782418CC) is no longer available.

Frankieb, With the banging and the unit comes back on I would gain access and inspect the wiring between the power board and the display board. Also, press cancel, cancel, start and check for error codes. We will send you a tech sheet to read the codes if any are present. Definitely disconnect the harness between the boards and reconnect. If this doesn't help then your power board is most likely the issue.

Greg, Apparently, depending on your model there is a jumper wire that needs to be in the correct place.JUMPER NO. JUMPER JUMPER BETWEEN PINS MODEL FEATURE 9754366 Red P3-1 to P3-5 Exposed bake, w/o top light. 9754371 Black P3-1 to P3-3 Hidden bake, w/o top light. No Jumper No Jumper No Jumper Hidden bake, with top light. Make sure your wiring is the same as this chart states.

I replaced a AP6014201 Control Board because the display on the oven and stove were not working. The AP6014201 matched the old part and fit well until I connected the ribbon cables. The connectors on the old board were not identical to the new board, they would not connect. I removed the male connector from the ribbon cable on the part that had not been replaced and slid the ribbon cable into the new connector. Unfortunately the oven does not work at all. I am lost. Please help.

George, if you could provide the model number for your appliance, it will allow for the most accurate information possible.

Roland for Model Number KERC608LSS0

The oven control does not have indication of temperature and time but the oven does work. Display does come on every so often. Decided to replace the control board WP9782455. Did the indicated programming starting: CONTROL BOARD and PF then #1 (convection broil) to 13. No 6AS or ELE did display, blank screen. The clock work and can be set. Pressed bake and 350 displayed but pressing Start I get F1:E3. Did check all connectors. Same thing did happen as above. For now have reinstalled the older control board. Waiting for your answer. Note that I live in Bermuda, no service is available here. Thank you.

Roland, The problem will most likely be in the jumper wire depending on your model. Sending you a tech sheet, you will find your error code on pg. 3 and at the bottom of page 3 left side pay attention to where if any the jumper needs to go. This jumper will be on the display board pin 3 and should be visibly marked on the control.

The ribbon connector on new Whirlpool control panel part 9782455 has is different from the connector on the control panel being replaced. The original control panel had the female connector pieces attached to the control panel and the male connection pieces attached to the ribbon cable. The new control panel looks like the male and female pieces are both connected to the control panel. Should I simply break off the old male connection pieces from the ribbon connector and insert the ribbons into the new slots and push down the locking male connection pieces? thanks

1 Answer

Bill, When you removed the ribbon harness the male part of the connector also came out and it should have stayed in the connector. Remove the male piece and insert the ribbon harness into the slot and lock it down.

Reasonably, You will want to check to make sure that the oven sensor is good as it should have a reading of 1090 ohms at room temp and 1654 at 350 degrees. If the sensor checks ok then this will be a faulty main control board.

Dave, Based on the information it does sound likely that the control board on the unit is faulty and would need to be replaced.
