Jason February 11, 2017 I replaced the ice maker shelf part wp61004881 and now it only dispenses crushed ice. It didn't do this prior to the repair, is it possible I put the wires on the solenoid backwards or is there another reason? I saw a post that said it could be a bad solenoid, how would I know it's bad?
1 Answer Jason, It would not make a difference which wire you connect to which lead on the solenoid. You will want to check to make sure that the solenoid is getting 120 vac. If it is then the solenoid would be faulty and need to be replaced. Read More...

Don May 25, 2012 for Model Number JCD2389GT When replacing the shelf, you must remove the drive prong from the motor to reinstall. How? Don
1 Answer Hello Don, The auger yoke is left handed threads so you have to tighten it off and loosen it back on. Also, because of the direction of rotation, it tightens itself every time ice is dispensed. This can seize it on pretty tight, I always use an adjustable wrench to grab the yoke and rap it with a hammer and this will impact it loose. Be sure to remember that the threads are reversed so you turn it clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten. Read More...
Alex April 06, 2012 for Model Number JCD2389DTW JEN AIR I am replacing part #AP4071296 and the problem I have is getting the yoke which is 2 inches wide to go through the 1/2 inch hole. Does the yoke have to be unscrewed from the motor?
1 Answer Hello Alex, The yoke does have to be unscrewed from the motor to get it out. Remember that the yoke is left handed threads so you have to tighten it off. Also, I have found that these things get really tight. I mean really tight. The easiest way to break them loose is to put a wrench into the yoke and rap it with a hammer to "impact" it loose. Wear gloves and use a towel on you work surface to prevent causing yourself more damage than necessary. Read More...

Richard D. August 27, 2011 for Model Number JCD2389GEQ The ice enclosure should have a hole in the vertical side to allow the auger to be mounted in the rear and the engagement yoke to project thru where it will drive the ice impeller which moves the cubes forward. Am I correct? My auger works but I guess the cubes were frozen togeather and the Auger broke its plastic mounting on the ice enclosure. In the picture I do not see the hole where the engagement yoke fits thru.
1 Answer Hi Richard. The just of your comment/question is absolutely true. However you will need to focus on the reason why there is moisture build up there in the enclosure firstly. Is your chute flapper staying open for moisture to collect on the auger? The ice door flapper kit is part # 12001991. Is the enclosure not put in fully and holding the door slightly open? Is there food in the bins holding the door open? You will need to remove the Ice bin monthly and dry it completley so the moisture or ice chips dont refreeze on the auger holding it frozen in place. Thank y6ou. Read More...
