For Whirlpool Whirlpool Everydrop Refrigerator Water Filter 3 (Part Number: OEM17950698)

Morris for Model Number GS6NBEXRB00

I have a problem with my ice maker not working. I performed all the test on the ice maker and the water inlet valve and they check good. I read where the water filter might be restricting water pressure so I removed the water line coming to the unit and the pressure checked good. I replaced the water filter and filled a measuring cup with water. The cup came up to 4 ounces but the digital read out on the refrigerator said 8 ounces. Is there a way to bypass the filter so I can test the water pressure?

1 Answer

Morris, To bypass the filter to check to see if it is the issue, you would just remove the filter. There is no filter bypass for this unit.

Randy, With the dishwasher having the pump start and lights flash then quits you will want to check the door switch to make sure that it is not loosing connection, check the water valve to make sure that there is power getting to the valve. Most likely issue with this will be in the control board.

Hello Randy, You will need to replace the water filter housing WPW10121138. There is a bad valve inside it that the filter actuates causing the problem.

Hello Tee. If the filter is stuck in the housing and the button is pressed all the way in, you will need to replace the filter housing and water filter on the unit.

Jet, You will want to pull out the filter and see if water flows with the filter out. If it does not then most likely the water filter housing is bad and would need to be replaced.

I've got a Whirlpool fridge with a water dispenser inside the fridge after opening the door. I just replaced the water filter and now every time the ice maker tries to kick on, the water filter is pushed out of the housing a little causing the housing door to kick open. We just had a new water line spicket put in since the kitchen was re-done and that spicket has a lot of pressure, thought that was the issue so turned the on/off valve so it was barely on causing the water dispenser to barely drip water when pressed, however the water filter still got kicked out of the housing when the ice maker would kick on. It's causing the ice maker to not make any ice. Tried putting the old filter back in and same issue, so it's not the new filter.

Lor, You will want to push in on the button next to the filter to get it to pop out based on the part number you gave which is EDR3RXD1. If you have a twist out type then pull the kickplate off and it will be easier to turn out

Stephen, If the water works with the filter out then the issue will be with the filter housing that you would want to replace the housing due to the filter pins not engaging and allowing water to pass properly through the filter.
