Joberl September 24, 2014 for Model Number ED5FHAXVB Is the 4396710 filter a direct replacement for the 4396841P which I am currently using
1 Answer Hello! Your unit is calling for a "fastfill" water filter part number EDR3RXD1. If you use EDR3RXD1 in it's place you will reduce the water flow in the system. Thanks! Read More...
Mary D September 18, 2014 for Model Number ? We have a side by side refrigerator that is about 5 years old. We change out the filter every six months. The last time my husband changed the filter it seemed to be alright and then a couple hours later it made a loud popping nose and the water was coming out all over the floor. We left the filter off for a few days and purchased another filter. Again the filter popped off but we were outside and it flooded the kitchen. Luckily I came inside before it got to the carpet. Again we kept the filter off for a couple months. We put it on again and for days it has been fine. Last night my husband was in the living room and again the loud noise and water happened again. Why is this happening?
Dave September 17, 2014 for Model Number KSF26C6XYY04 The Pur W10295370A filter is stuck in the filter system and the cap will not close. Is there an eject button for the filter on the Kitchenaid KSF26C6XYY side by side refrigerator?
1 Answer Dave, Sorry, but no there is no "eject button for the filter" on your refrigerator. You will need to carefully unjam and remove the filter EDR1RXD1, and try again. Lift open the filter cover door. the filter will be released and then be ejected as the door is opened. When the door is completely open, pull the filter straight out. NOTE: There may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills. Take the new filter out of its packaging and remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed. With the arrow pointing up, align the new filter with the filter housing and slide it into place. The filter cover door will automatically begin to close as the new filter is inserted. Close the filter cover door completely in order to snap the filter into place. You may need to press hard. Flush the water system. Read More...
George September 15, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool Gold side by side GS5VHAXWY03 My filter does not mark a whooshing sound when installed and the water still tastes the same when I do not use a filter.. I push it in firmly but does not feel like it locks in place.
1 Answer Hello George. Try pulling slightly on the filter. If it comes out, then it is not installed properly. It should click and lock into place. If not, then replace the filter housing on the unit. Read More...
Mari September 13, 2014 for Model Number 4396841 I replaced the water filter 4396841 on my Whirlpool refrigerator and the eject button did not pop out after I heard the click sound after inserting the filter. Water comes out the dispenser but I think it is water that is not going through the filter. I removed the filter after some time "of use" to check if the filter had any signs of having had water through it and it seems that no water has moved through the filter since it is completely dry and not heavy with water as previous filters have been when I have replaced them. I do not know if the problem is the eject button, the filter itself or what. What should Ido?
1 Answer Mari, Sometimes when you push the filter in, it does not click into place without giving it a tap. One way to determine if the filter is in is when the filter is fully inserted you will hear a water rushing sound. And when you purge the water line of 3 gallons of water there will be air in the lines. Try putting filter back in and give it a good push or whack to make sure it goes all the way in place. Sue September 03, 2014 for Model Number MSD2272VEW00 I recently moved into a new house and the previous owner left the refrigerator. I noticed that there is mold around the water/ice dispenser area. Why would this happen? What is the best way to clean this area?
1 Answer Sue, The best way to clean the area is to pull the dispenser cover off and use a vinegar/water solution to clean. This area is a high moisture area which would be the reason that it would have a lot of mildew. To remove the front cover you will first remove the drip tray. At the bottom of the trim there will be 2 holes that you use a flat blade screwdriver to slide into it and pop the front cover off. Remove the cover and there will be a bracket that you would take loose and flip it up and tape it off to hold it up so that you can clean inside the area. Read More...
