Mari for Model Number 4396841

I replaced the water filter 4396841 on my Whirlpool refrigerator and the eject button did not pop out after I heard the click sound after inserting the filter. Water comes out the dispenser but I think it is water that is not going through the filter. I removed the filter after some time "of use" to check if the filter had any signs of having had water through it and it seems that no water has moved through the filter since it is completely dry and not heavy with water as previous filters have been when I have replaced them. I do not know if the problem is the eject button, the filter itself or what. What should Ido?

Answer

Mari, Sometimes when you push the filter in, it does not click into place without giving it a tap. One way to determine if the filter is in is when the filter is fully inserted you will hear a water rushing sound. And when you purge the water line of 3 gallons of water there will be air in the lines. Try putting filter back in and give it a good push or whack to make sure it goes all the way in place.
