For Whirlpool Whirlpool Everydrop Refrigerator Water Filter 3 (Part Number: OEM17950698)

Dominique, In most cases when the filter is changed you will have to purge 3 gallons of water through. The initial burst will come through rapidly and then it will sputter because of air in the lines then you just continue holding the lever and it should allow the water to start flowing again. If this is not correcting the issue then you will want to ensure that the filter is all the way in and if it is then it sounds like the filter head may be defective.

Danica, These filters are the same and you will want to check for the condenser fan running. If the fan is not running then it can cause the drain pan to overfill. The other thing would be if the filter housing is leaking and causing the drain pan to overfill.
