Lisa for Model Number ED5PHEXMQ00 I tried to change the water filter in my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator because water was coming out from under the fridge -- drip pan was full - so i figured the water filter was old (full of stuff and needed to be replaced). I cannot for the life of me , no matter how hard i push get the new filter to go in far enough to make the 1/4 turn -- and i can't get the old filter back in either. Is there a bigger problem?
Answer Lisa, If you are unable to get the filter back in after removing the kickplate and trying to turn it with a pair of pliers or channel locks then the issue will be a water filter housing that would need to be replaced.
