Hello Cindy, If the float breaks, it should be replaced. If the float WP8268913 comes out of position it can cause water to go in the floor. Note that the float comes with the little push on retainer. To install it you will have to remove the kick panel and push on the little retainer.

Hello Jack. You will need to check and see if the water level inside the tub assembly is low. If so, it will cause the problems you are having with the unit and you will need to replace the water valve WP8531669. Hope this helps.
