Randall July 18, 2018 I have a Whirlpool GI15NDXZS icemaker, 2 years old and it has broken the top wire on the grid 3 times now. Any idea on why this is breaking so often or is this normal wear ?
1 Answer Randall, The wire on the grid should not break that easily and may be that there is a weak spot where it is breaking. Another thing is if you live in an area with extremely hard water you may want to take out the grid periodically and clean the calcium off the wire as this could cause it to become weak. Read More...
Randy February 16, 2018 for Model Number GI15NDXZS0 What would make the wire cutter keep breaking, Ice maker is only 18 months old and it has broken twice now.
1 Answer Randy, Just a weak wire would most likely cause the cutter grid to break on the unit. Also check to make sure that there is not too much power getting to the grid. Read More...

Tim Taylor March 26, 2016 for Model Number zdisi5cssl Repairing for a friend--replaced control board got compressor to come on, making ice real good--but when drops to cutting grid does not cut fast enough before another harvest delivers a sheet of ice to grid. Had three sheets on top of each other, heater does work but not very quick
1 Answer Tim, The most likely cause for the unit to not cut the ice would be a broken cutter grid. The part number of the cutter grid for your unit will be WR29X10073 but you could use cutter grid WP2313637. Read More...

Bw January 13, 2015 for Model Number kitchenaid kuia15nrhs6 ice maker I have a Kitchenaid icemaker (KUIA15NRHS6). It is about ten years old. Icemaker was working great until two days ago. Starting making horrible noise and stopped making ice cubes. I took the cover off and noticed a sheet of ice on the grid. There is one wire broken on the grid. Would the one wire that is broken prevent the entire grid from cutting the ice? Thus, would replacing the grid assembly correct the problem? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello BW. Yes, if the wire is broken, the grid cutter will need to be replaced. Read More...
