Randall, The wire on the grid should not break that easily and may be that there is a weak spot where it is breaking. Another thing is if you live in an area with extremely hard water you may want to take out the grid periodically and clean the calcium off the wire as this could cause it to become weak.

Randy, Just a weak wire would most likely cause the cutter grid to break on the unit. Also check to make sure that there is not too much power getting to the grid.

Tim, The most likely cause for the unit to not cut the ice would be a broken cutter grid. The part number of the cutter grid for your unit will be WR29X10073 but you could use cutter grid WP2313637.
