JR, No, you shouldn't "screw up" the dispenser. You do want to be careful removing and reinstalling the door panel screws, don't damage the liner. You'll also find it easier, if you carefully disconnect the wires from the dispenser, and propp the liner against the tub opening.

Michael W. for Model Number Maytag 200 Quiet Series

Two questions: 1) the outside latch that you pull up on to open the dishwasher door is loose (broken) and does not release the door. Do you think that I need to replace just the latch, or is it likely that the latch assembly (or soemthing else) needs to be repalced at the same time? I'd rather order what I need the first time. 2) the diswasher has been getting increasingly louder over the past year. Is there a resolution to this?

Michael, Fortunately there aren't too many issues with the latch assembly itself, and you'll most likely need the handle only. As for the noise level, there are numerous posibilities, You may want to start and make sure the dishwasher fills properly, Low water level decreases the interior pressure in the pump and can make the sound level increase. You'll want to start the dishwasher on a normal wash cycle, allow the dishwasher to fill and wash for three(3) to five(5) minutes, then unlatch the door, remove the lower rack and check the water level in the bottom of the tub. The water should be coverring the lower half of the heating element(at the least), if not there's not enough water in the tub and you'll want to replace the fill valve.Otherwise, the issue would be inside the pump, and you will need to dismantle the pump and check for debris in the impellers or pump housing

Hello Malcolm! There is no specific information available to install the door latch handle. Turn off the power to the dishwasher. Gain access to the backside of the control panel. The handle will hook onto the latch assembly. Pay close attention to how you remove the current handle and install in the reverse order. If you are needing further information you may register with our repair forum regarding the installation process. It's free to register.
