1 Answer Hello Frank, You should first make sure the unit is properly leveled and securely mounted under the countertop. If it can move around it will prevent the door switches from making electrically. You will need to make sure the door latch hook that mounts on the top of the dishwasher is properly adjusted and tight so it cannot move. I looked at the picture of the handle part you refer to(AP4114723). The handle on my dishwasher does not show that 1" extension.
