Debbie March 31, 2022 for Model Number GLT3615LQ02 I watched your video - very helpful, but I can't get the black wire connection apart. In the video, he says "just squeeze and pull" but it won't come apart. I'm afraid of ruining the connection. My connection is orange and flat, compared to the video connection, which is round and white or clear. Help! Cooktop part # WP4456901 - Igniter Switch & Harness Assembly
1 Answer Debbie, a pair of needle-nose pliers can be used to grip just where the flat part starts to become widest as there is likely a push tab at this spot. The pliers will help to push it down so that it can be pulled away. Read More...
Suzie December 01, 2021 for Model Number KGCC566RWW04 How do I remove the glass top on my cooktop? do I need to remove the burners and if yes, how is that done? Thank you, Suzie
1 Answer Suzie. Thanks for the question!!! Yes, the burners need to be removed. After the burner caps are lifted off, there will be two screws holdings the burner down. The cooktop will also need to be lifted from the counter to give access to screws in the front and rear of the unit that hold the glass on. Read More...
Ethan May 02, 2018 for Model Number GLT3657 My cooktop is Whirlpool Gold model GLT3657 with glass surface. The five burners all keep clicking suddenly even while off. I have cleaned them all to make sure no water and dirt around igniters and burner caps, but still clicking all the time. I also replaced the spark module (part# WB13T10047), but no luck. Is there anything that can cause the problem?
1 Answer Ethan, You will need to check for a good solid ground and polarity at the wall outlet, Then check the gas valve ignition switch circuit(s) . They should all have an "open" circuit, when the knob(s) are in the "OFF" position. Reversed polarity and a weak or intermittent earth ground can cause the spark module to maintain a "charge" and arc the igniters even in the OFF position. Read More...

Cj February 11, 2015 for Model Number GLT3657RB05 As soon as the ignitor is plugged into the electrical outlet it trips the breaker. Opened up the Glass top to look underneath and it appears one of the ignitor switches is shorted (slightly burnt). it emits a spark and pop when plugged into the electric outlet, immediately tripping breaker. Do i just need to replace the switch or also the spark module? If i buy part 4456901 how easy is it to replace it? I tried to pull out the cables for the existing part but it seemed difficult to extract from the positive terminal. The switch itself just popped out easily. thanks. CJ
1 Answer CJ, The issue with the harness being burnt could cause the breaker to trip if it is shorting to ground. You would just need to replace the switch harness which has the switches on it. Read More...
John S. July 08, 2014 for Model Number Glt3657rb00 Does The glass cook top come off after burner screws are removed. I am replacing the spark wiring harness. The glass cook top was hit by lightening!
1 Answer John, Yes the glass cooktop can be removed after the control knobs and the burner base screws are removed. Remember to label the location of the burner caps and bases before you remove them, it makes it a lot easier to reconstruct the cooktop, if you do. It's also a good idea to remove the drip pans under the burner bases as well, it'll give you better leverage and room to remove the glass top ( the glass panel can "stick" to the burner box frame and is a little difficult to remove). Chris December 29, 2013 for Model Number Kitcheaid gas cooktop KGCC566RBL Hello, I need instructions on how to open the gas cooktop model kgcc566rbl in order to replace the igniter switches? Thanks, Chris
1 Answer Hello Chris, To remove the cooktop, 1. Turn off the gas supply and electrical power to the cooktop. 2. Remove the grates and burner caps. 3. Remove the knobs from the controls. 4. Remove all of the burner bases. To remove a burner base, remove the two screws, and lift it off the drip pan. 5. Lift the maintop off the countertop. NOTE: If you are replacing the maintop, unclip the control bezels from the mounting holes, otherwise leave them installed. Read More...

George August 24, 2011 for Model Number KGCS166GSS07 Do you have instructions for how to remove and replace the switches (part no. AP3592411) (kitchen aid part number 4456901) on the kitchen aid KGCS166GSS07 cooktop? I removed the stainless steel top and can see the switches and harness. However, I tried simply pulling up on the switches and it seems that they are somehow locked in place. I tried looking underneath with an inspection mirror and could still not see any obvious answer.
1 Answer Hi George . On the wiring harness with switches part # is WP4456901, there are switch holding locator pins on the back of each switch. You can use a small straight blade to push out on the back of the body to release from the valve body. Then you can pull off the switches from the valve stems. Use the ceramic wire nuts to hook into the original harness. Thank you. Read More...
