The Dryer Heating Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool electric dryers. This element provides critical heat to properly dry wet laundry loads. Consistent warmth throughout cycles is key to leaving clothes completely dry. This 5400-watt, 240-volt heating element heats the air circulating around the drum.

Causes of a bad heating element can include failure due to extended usage cycles over time, or mineral buildup inhibiting heat transfer.

Symptoms of a faulty element include:

  • Inability to reach or maintain desired drying temperature
  • Wet or damp clothes after full cycles
  • Potential safety issues if element overheats
  • Dryer not working or requiring excess cycles to dry

This OEM Whirlpool replacement element is also compatible with Kenmore, Maytag, Amana and Whirlpool brands.

DeeDee, This issue will most likely not be with something being connected wrong but would more likely be that the relay on the board is stuck closed and causing this issue to occur. This could have cause the element to fail previously.

Curt, Start in the machine control panel area and see if the manufacturer tech sheet is located there, if so use it to follow the manufacturer diagnosis procedure. If not then check for incoming 120vac to the main control board (if the board has power to it and it doesn't light up/respond then it is likely a board issue.

Myrta for Model Number MOD 110.87872602

My dryer front load is Kenmore Elite (smartheat.QuietPak4) MOD 110.87872602 BE NY0502504 TYPE: DADT-ELE-2406024-EL54 My dryer works but does not heat. When we checked we found that the heating element part rotted. I can't find the parts I need the heating element, the cover that covers it and the cover that joins in the back. I think it rotted due to a leak that had been upstairs some time ago. All settings work.Help me, I don't get the pieces because I don't really know the names.

Myrta, the correct part numbers for what you are asking about are, WP8544771 heating element, WP8544769 the top cover for the element, WP8544770 for the bottom portion of the heater box, and 8544776 for the clip that connects the heater box assembly to the rear heater duct, WP3387911. Hope this helps

Wayne, to replace the heating element the front panel would need to be removed. The drum can be removed to make the removal and installation of a new element much easier.
