M.M. August 20, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool washer : ghw9200lw Is this the correct part needed? The door sags. I have to lift on it, just before closing in order for the washer to close. I read the posts but I wasn't sure if I had any door damage. I didn't see anything noticeable. What should I look for if there was door damage?
1 Answer Hello M.M., The door hinge WP8181843 is the correct part to correct a drooping door. Most of these that I have had to change was due to folks putting their weight on the door with their arm while loading or unloading the machine. You simply cannot see damage by just looking at it. The only way you can tell it has damage is by opening the door and closing it slowly while watching the alignment of the door strike as it meets the door switch assembly. If it strikes too low, the hinge replacement is the only way to correct the situation. Read More...
Beth July 22, 2012 for Model Number GHW9100LW1 I have the Whirlpool Duet front loader, model number GHW9100LW1. Currently, the door hinge is on the left, but we moved them and I need the hinge to be on the right. Is part #AP3128729 the correct part number to order?
1 Answer Hello Beth, Unfortunately, I have to be the bearer of bad news. This is one of the few models that doesn't allow a door swap. Because of the shape of the door, the location of the door lock assembly (and harness), and the mounting of the door hinge, Whirlpool never made allowances for the reversal of the door. Read More...
Tina G. April 17, 2012 for Model Number ghw9200lw How do I take off the old hinge, to put on a new one?
1 Answer Hello Tina, Remove the screws and lift straight up to slide the door off of the "hook clips" it hangs on. Lay the door inside up on a towel or blanket. As you remove the screws, be sure to place them where you will put them back in the same holes during reassembly. I usually sit with my legs straight out so I can support the edges of the door while I work on it. As long as you put the screws back where you removed them from, the rest is just a matter of removing screws and replacing them. The hardest part is getting the three sections back together straight. You may want to have help to get them straight when getting the glass back in. Read More...

1 Answer Hi Robert. The new door hinge is part # WP8181843. You need to look into the service manual and it will tell you if your model # is available to reverse the hinge. The parts breakdown does not give a Lt. or Rt. hinge part # difference. Thank You. Read More...

Mary July 05, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool Duet Washer WFW9400SW02 The hinge on the door has two gray pieces that hold it to the door. One broke. It's about 1.5" long with a round end. Without it, the washer works, but the door doesn't stay even and I have to lift and push the door in to click. I'm afraid it will eventually wear the other piece out if I keep straining it. Can I just buy this piece?
1 Answer Hello Mary! The hinge is part number WP8183202 and connects to the door using screws WP8540725 at the top and the bottom of the hinge. If the part you are speaking of is physically on the hinge, you will need to purchase the hinge itself. There is a picture of this part on our website to view. Thanks! Read More...
