Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Icemaker (Part Number: OEM24212268)

1 Answer

Hello Mike, and thank you for your question. There should be a number at the end of the model provided that is necessary to identify which ice maker is used with your appliance. If it ends with the number 2, 3, 4, or 10 then the ice maker D7824706Q would be used. If the model ends with 5, 6, 7, or 8 then the ice maker W10884390 would be used.

Heidi, it is recommended that all parts are used as this ensures proper operation as they are designed to operate in conjunction with each part of the kit. This will also ensure that the valve is in working order as the original one may have some wear that could limit the functionality.

Samantha, the ice maker W11762633 would have every part that would be necessary for installation and no additional parts would be needed aside from a water supply line from the house to the refrigerator.

Samantha, the ice maker can be tested for 120VAC with the door switch taped down to identify if it is receiving operational voltage. If it is, and the freezer is reaching 0°F when verified with a thermometer, the next step would be verifying that the water valve receives 120VAC at the end of a harvest cycle (a jumper wire placed from port T to port H just behind the face cover will start a harvest cycle, the wire would be removed after the ice arms reach the 3 o'clock position). If voltage reaches the valve and the ice maker fills with water, the ice maker is not cycling properly and would need to be replaced.

Hello Jim, your model refrigerator did not have a factory-installed ice maker, it was however available as a kit. Due to that, the ice maker is only available from the manufacturer as a kit, WPW10261234.

Hello Kendra, If you need the icemaker only, you should order W10884390, which is the icemaker only. The part you were viewing is the complete icemaker installation kit. This would only be needed if there is not an icemaker presently installed in the refrigerator. As far as the compatibility tool goes, it is still in work and at this time will only recognize the original part number as listed on the manufacturers' parts list. This is a bigger issue for Whirlpool parts at this time since they recently added "WP" to the beginning of almost every part number. We are working to correct this issue at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
