I notice 2 different lid switches on the parts diagram. Do they have both or just one? Also my unit fills but then does nothing else. It did work on delicate but then it quit.

The washers fills with water fine and starts to run, then stops, the motor begins to smoke and then it shuts off. Do I need a new Motor?

Hello Rosie. Check and make sure the tub bearing and transmission is not locked up. Also the brake assembly is good. If so, and the motor smokes, you will need to replace the motor assembly 12002353. Hope this helps.

This machine pauses during the cycle many times. Something it never did new. I do not hear the timer running and if I pull up (put preasure)on the timer it will work fine. Do I need a new timer and lid switch or just the timer. Also should I replace the spring on the knob? Thank you much for your time. Frances

Hi Frances. The timer is part # 22002186. The lid switch is part # WP22001682. The question is that with what you described, you need the timer. The lid switch also controls the off/on of the unit. So if you can consider both parts you will do better to change both. Thank you.

Shine, I'm not sure, but if you're discussing the lid switch wire harness(s) Yes they do attach to the terminals of both the door switch assemblies , and are routed to the back of top assembly and up and into the control panel and attach to the control board. My maytag washer will go through the wash cycle, but will not spin and drain before the rinse cycle. The timer will advance all the way through to off. could this be a lid switch problem or maybe the water level switch?

Larry, It's most likely the "lid switch assembly" 12001908, The water level switch, controls the fill cycle, and is bypassed in the spin cycle by the timer contacts. But if the switch or plunger is at fault, it will fill and wash, but won't spin and drain. Thanks and Good Luck.

When I pull the knob to start the water fill nothing happens. Whether or not lid is up or down. It almost seems like there is no power, but the power outlet works fine. I replaced timer but still have same problem. Could this be the lid switch? I depress the switch and I hear the click?

Hello Joe. If the lid switch is bad, and is not making up the neutral, it can cause the problems your having. You will need to test the lid switch and see if it is working properly. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. When washer starts through the wash cycle sometimes it will turn off. I then raise the lid and shift the agitator and put the lid down. Sometimes it will start back and wash fine and then there are times it will cut off as soon as it starts back on cycle. Clothes get shifted and that doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe in the lid switch but not sure. I need help. Thanks.

I am trying to determine if I should buy a lid switch kit for my washer. I have already replaced the little door lid switch and when I use a screw driver on the plunger the washer works fine again. So it seems I need a lid switch kit. My question is that I have looked at the lid switch kit on my washer and it looks and functions great. And so does the plunger. I would like some advice on what to do. Thank you.

Hello Kevin. If it will work with a screw driver, then you will need to replace the lid switch. The kit comes with a new plunger, and it will need to be installed with the new lid switch. Hope this helps.
