Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Microwave Light Bulb (Part Number: OEM18064305)

1 Answer

Marl, Thanks for the question!!! Two possible reasons. One, make sure the microwave is unplugged at the wall or the breaker is off before replacing the bulb. Secondly, never touch this style of bulb without wearing clean gloves. If you touch the bulb with your skin, it will transfer oil onto the bulb causing it to fail.

Ron for Model Number KEMC378KSS01

First, thank you for the wonderful videos on how to do repairs on my Kitchen Aid KEMC378KSS0. I was able to easily replace the inner glass on my oven door. Now I'm trying to replace the lightbulb as demonstrated at https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-lmp-basles-wpw10440740-ap6021432.html?wvideo=zb0g7lui8v. I can't get to the two screws on the side panel of the control panel because there is a vertical trim piece on each side. I see that there is an attachment screw on the inside bottom of each piece, but how do I remove it without bending or marring it? Does it just pry off? Is there some sort of clip holding it on? The video demonstrating the bulb replacement is done on an oven that is not installed, so the trim pieces on the left and right side are not there, hence my question. Thanks!

Ron, the oven will need to be pulled forward enough to be able to access the screws at the side due to the trim kit preventing access to the screws.

Anthony, It's something else going on. It's not the bulb or the light transformer. You'll need to check the primary door switch circuit, check all the door switch circuits and wiring between the switches and the control board. The circuits indicate the door switch is closed and the interior light wont illuminate when the door is open.
