For Whirlpool Compressor Starting Device (Part Number: OEM18027969)

Wally for Model Number 10654616300

My refrigerator compressor seems to be clicking on and off after a couple seconds, every 60secs or so and stopped cooling. I believe it to be the relay. From the parts list and the parts I pulled of the compressor, looks like I need a capacitor, start-dev and overload. However, when I look at the overload (p/n 4387835) I don't see that on the compressor in my refrigerator. On APP it's called Compressor starting device. Is the start-dev (p/n 2255198) the same thing? Do I need all 3 components or just the capacitor and start-dev?

I have this model refrigerator that the relay clicks, but the compressor does not start. ie no cooling at all. I want to replace the relay, and start capacitor together. It's an Embraco 437NFBYY. I have removed the relay from the compressor and I'm waiting for the voltage output of the relay to display on my voltmeter. I am assuming that if I see the voltage, the compressor is bad. If no voltage when the relay kicks in, then I'm assuming the relay/capacitor is bad. Can you help with the correct part number to order if it;s the relay/capacitor?

Hello Charles. Yes, it gets hot. Make sure the condenser fan motor is working and the condenser coils are clean on the unit.

Hello Scott, This might be the compressor or the start relay. The best way to figure it out is by replacing the start relay W10920279. If it fails within 2 days, there is an issue with the compressor. If not, the relay was the only issue.

Darron, The red wire will connect to the white overload and the white wire will connect to the right side terminal of the start relay. If there is a gang plug on the original then you would need to get 2 female spade terminals

Hi, My refrigerator intermittently stops working. When this happens and I turn the thermostat down, the light will flicker. At this point the fridge sometimes won't start unless I leave the thermostat off for several minutes. When it does start it may only run for 5 - 10 minutes, in which case I go through this procedure again, or it might work properly for several days. I was originally thinking that this was a thermostat problem, but realize that it could also be overload protection or starting relay(s) problem. Thanks, Dave

Hello Dave. If shutting off, it is the cold control. If the compressor does not run, it is a bad compressor. If overload was bad, it would never run right and cool.

Hello Hchat. The 4th part is a locking clip for the cover and is not needed on most models. If the cover snaps onto the side of the unit, you can discard the piece.
