Mike, The first thing to check is the junction box 6-916711. It's located on the front of the dishwasher frame, behind the kick panel and lower access panel. Make sure the electrical connections have not gotten loose and or fallen apart. You'll need to remove power to the dishwasher before you start. Then remove the inner door liner and check the door switches WP99002751 and wires for operation and damage. Then test or replace the control panel 6-919819 if there is no visible damage to the control board or wiring.

Hello Jim. No, the ribbon cable is not hard to attach on the unit. Just release the locking clip and slide old one out and then slide new one into place and lock down the clip.

Hello Sarah! The color of the panel is the difference in the control panels listed. You will use part number 6-919819, the white control panel. Thanks!

Luanne, It was a fluke, sort of. But you're on the right track, the start/run issue is in the control panel/keypad assembly 6-919819. There is no "reset" procedure for this particular dishwasher. You may want to order and replace the panel, the issue will return. Thanks

My dishwasher won't start. This began when the door latch got broken. I installed a new latch, still no go. Only keypads that light are "heavy wash" and "auto clean". No other pads light. I inspected the latch. It looks ok. I pulled the control panel. Only thing I see is that the ribbon has become dark brown at the conductive lines just as the ribbon comes out of the keypad and the brown stops just as the conductive lines become wider. I pulled the circuit board - both sides look ok (no scorches). I tried to run the field service test. Nothing happened. Tried to run the manual test. Nothing again. Is it the control board?

Hello Mark, This sounds like the control panel itself has failed. If the lights stay on constantly, this is an indication that the buttons corresponding to these lights are stuck. If this is the case, the control panel 6-919819 will require replacement. Will Not Start Or Program Control Board Check incoming voltage to Control Board. Membrane Switch Check for proper operation of Membrane Switch. See membrane readings on the Technical Sheet located behind toe panel. NOTE: Make sure the pin connectors are making proper contact with pins on the Control Board. If the voltage is correct into the Control Board, and the board will not activate, replace board.

I sent you a question yesterday asking whether it was more likely that I need a new control panel or new circuit board. You responded that I should run an automatic service test per the service sheet in the kick panel. First, there is no automatic service test referenced on the service sheet. There is a manual service test and a field service test. Second, both service tests require pushing the "heated dry" key to initiate them. There is no response when I push that key. In fact the only key that responds initially to contact is the "light wash" key. When that key is pushed the lights come on for "light wash", "heated dry", "sanitize", and "tough scrub". Even with the indicator light on it is not possible to get a response from the "heated dry" button. At that point it is possible to get a response from the "delayed wash" button and the "tough scrub" button, but at no time is it possible to get a response from the "start" button. After a few seconds all the lights go off again. Is the problem more likely to be with the control panel or the circuit board?

Hello Bob. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel 6-919819 is bad and will need to be replaced. If some buttons work and others do not, this usually is not a board problem, but is a panel problem. Hope this helps.

Hello Bob, I would first check behind the kickpanel for the service sheet and execute an automatic service test. Let it go all the way through the test and note the results. If any lights flash at the end of the test, it is a fault code. The tech. sheet will list the failure codes. You can also use a pencil eraser on the ribbon cable in the same direction as the traces to clean them. If niether of these produce results, the control board WPW10218837 is probably at fault.
