Hello Tom. Yes, the ribbon is attached to the control panel. You just need to attach it to the board and that is not hard to do.

Leslie for Model Number Maytag Model #MDBH965AWB

We have a Maytag dishwasher Model #MDBH965AWB. The keypad has been flaky and intermittent and the unit has continued to run until recently. We were able to get it running for a few weeks but taking off the door and jiggling the ribbon cable and connectors on the control board. It has also responded to throwing the circuit board and then worked a few times. Now it has stopped working completely. How do we know whether to replace the keypad assembly or the control panel?

1 Answer

Leslie, We're 98% sure the issue is in the control panel / keypad assembly 6-919836. You can retrieve the tech data sheet from the backside of the kickplate panel and test the individual key pads with a meter, using the information in the tech sheet.

Tracefacemsu for Model Number MDBH965AWW

Control panel or control board? After the power went out in our house last week, our washing machine stopped working. The "Rinse Only" and "Washing" lights keep blinking as well as either "9" or "2H" on the display. Nothing happens when I press any of the buttons. I've disconnected and reconnected the power a couple of times, and no change. I also opened up the housing on the control board and inspected the ribbon to the control panel and didn't see any signs of rust or damage. Which part seems to be the culprit?

1 Answer

Tracefacemsu, The most likely issue is failed circuit(s) in the key pad / control panel assembly 6-919836. If you remove the lower kickplate panel on the front of the dishwasher, you should find the tech data sheet attached to the backside of the panel. You can conduct the service test programs to verify the control board operates properly, and can circuit test the key pads, using a meter.

Jayne for Model Number MDBH965AWB

Hello, Suddenly my dishwasher began blinking "80" and would intermittently respond to touch requests. Now it will not respond at all to my touch. This morning the green light was lit for insta wash but when I tried to touch anything else it went off and will not respond to my touch at all. Could this be the touch panel? I noticed water trails from steam possibly coming from under the touch pad section the other day. Thanks in advance for your time!

Hello Jayne. Yes, it sounds like the control panel is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Jeff

My washer is a maytag legacy quiet series 300 # MDBH965AWB ...Im thinking that since the ribbon harness is attatched firmly into the control board, that the touch pad (part# 6-919836) is bad or the ribbon itself is bad, as it apperears discolored and only part of the touch pad buttons light up and the washer won't start. My question is, does the ribbon harness come with the new touch pad or does it have a separate part number and can be purchased separately? Thanks! Jeff

1 Answer

Lee, You will want to access the control board on the unit and check for a loose connection of the ribbon harness to the control. Also check to make sure that there is no corrosion on the ribbon harness. If there is corrosion you would use an eraser and rub the silver parts of the ribbon to clean. If this checks ok then the issue would most likely be the touch pad that is the issue.

Hello Eddie, The control panel 6-919836 you were viewing is only the touch pad. It does not include the electronic control board.

John, You are on target, the issue is most likely a faulty "Rinse" cycle keypad on the control panel.Basicsally the rinse keypad collapses and makes the rinse selection, or there could be a short in the ribbon tracers on the keypad assembly. If you can find the tech data sheet taped to the backside of the kickplate, you can use the diagram to check for an "open" circuit on all the ribbons with a multimeter, any "closed" circuit without the pad being pressed would indicate a faulty keypad. here's some meter usage info, if you need help [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] Good Luck and Thanks
