Diane for Model Number GVW9950KQ

Hello, Called your place of business Thursday 1/1/2015 and discussed with the telephone staff but all in all they suggested I write out the problem for the techs. Used the Whirlpool Calypso Washing machine Wednesday - washed a load and Thursday AM went to pull the clothes out and dry them and the sensor board (instead of being off) it was showing it was set for Normal load @ 42 minutes. I tried to cancel but it wouldn't clear. I pulled the plug - waited a short while- plugged it back in and the 42 Minutes came up again. We got this machine around 2002 I believe and it had a problem when under warranty with the control panel which got replaced. My husband took the control panel off the machine and checked all connections, checked the ribbon connections from the control panel - didn't find any bent pins in the ribbon connections. Checked the drain (as suggested by the telephone staff) but there was no clogs. We reassembled everything - now when you plug it in and touch the Normal load button or any of the other buttons, nothing happens. When you touch the Stop/Cancel button the normal load button lights and the display shows 42 minutes. When you touch any other button - nothing happens. If you hit the Stop/Cancel button you will get a beep and the lights and display will go off and turn back on quickly. We read another post and used our Multimeter to check for continuity: As your post stated – (You will need to test the ribbon cable across pins P11-1 and P12-5 and press the start button and see if it closes for continuity.) We got NO response. It looks like we need a Control Panel, is the one we need on this page? Or what do you suggest? http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-control-panel-assembly-8563809-ap3884746.html Thanks Diane

Diane, The model number listed is not coming up as a valid model. I believe that it should be a GVW9959KQ but should have a number at the end. We need a complete and valid model to be able to determine if the control panel is still available for this unit.

My washing mach. wont come on. No lights, sound no anything. I've ckd. power & have that but the mach.wont come on. A repairman came & said the problem was the control board, #8571359. I installed said board & Pooie. Nothing works or comes on after chg. the control board. The repairman returns & now says that the problem is the Control panel asbly. The front touch pad control. Do you think I'm being bamboozled? Will chg. the fnt.touch pad control asmbly. bring my washer back to life?

Dale, If you're sure you have 120 VAC at connector P16 pin4(black) to pin 2(white) and no loose connection on the P11 and P12 connectors on the control board , then yes, replace the control panel assembly WP8563809 . Good Luck and Thanks.

Richard M. for Model Number GVW9959K

My whirlpool calypso washer suddenly started turning on its control panel, and beeping when it was not in use. I unplugged it and later plugged it back in and it was ok for an hour or so then it lit up again. I pushed the off button and it went off, but when I released it the panel was on again, and it won't go off unless I unplug it. Does this mean the whole control panel needs replaced? If so what is the diff. between the panels? Is it hard to change and is there a guarantee on the new part?

1 Answer

Hello Richard! Yes, you will need to change the control panel assembly. The only difference in the panels are the colors. What is your full model number? This will help determine the correct part number. Thanks.
