The Pump-Recirculating is an OEM part for Whirlpool ice machines. This component is responsible for circulating water over the evaporator plate to form ice, ensuring efficient ice production and consistent quality.

Over time, factors such as mineral buildup, clogging, or mechanical failure can impair the pump’s performance, leading to reduced ice production or complete failure of the ice-making process.

Symptoms of a bad ice machine pump-recirculating include:

  • Reduced or no ice production
  • Unusual noises coming from the ice machine
  • Water leaking or pooling inside the ice machine
  • Ice cubes that are smaller or misshapen

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Mark, the re-circulation pump I am looking at has only 2 wires with a 3 prong connection. There is water level sensor that plugs into a connection by the circulation pump.Part number W11566406 is the correct part number for your model.

Mark, I believe you are referring to the main connector of the pump harness. That harness powers your drain and circulating pumps and also water level sensor.Remove a plastic cover over your reservoir and you should see where the pump connects.

My Kitchenaid under counter ice maker stopped making ice. Ran cleaner though it with no success. Noticed that the pump was not pumping water up to the top ice tray so ordered a pump from you guys -still no success. The water tray fill us but it never pumps water up to the top to make ice. The top ice tray is getting cold - can see frost on it but it wont pump water up to it. Hose and the plastic tube up top is all clean. Did notice that the water tray in the bottom gets filled when I turn it on but about an hour later when I come back to check on it - it is empty. The service light is not on either.

Steve, You will want to test to see if there is 120 vac going to the circulation pump. If there is not then this would be a faulty control board causing this issue.

Tanny, If there's no water in the reservoir or in the machine, the pump wouldn't be the problem. You should check or replace the fill valve WPW10217917 first. Water from the supply line enters the fill valve, and from the valve to the reservoir and pump, then the pump circulates the water to the dispenser arm and ice flows onto the evaporator to freeze into a slab that "drops" down onto the grid and is cut into cubes. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

My KitchenAid icemaker has been making an unusual grinding and chugging sound, beyond the norm, for the past few month - but nonetheless making good, clear ice. Now the ice has gotten small, thin, and cloudy and takes twice as long to fill up the ice bin. It's very brittle too, like crushed ice. I believe the sound is coming from this black pump at the rear of the ice bin, part AP6007220 but I could be wrong. I recall buying and replacing this pump last year for some reason, but I cannot find it in my purchase history with you - as I am accustom to buying my appliance parts from you. Be that as it may, does the small and cloudy ice, and the unusual grinding and chugging sound, sound like this pump has failed?

Hello Allan. Try using some cleaner W11179302 in the unit and clean it. If the issue continues then check the water supply and the pump.

Hello Jeff. If the pump is the only thing leaking, you will only need to replace the pump on the unit.

Hello Michael. Either the hose for the feed tube has come off or the pump is bad in the unit. Check the hose first. If good, replace the pump if there is water coming into the water bin of the unit.
