Javier October 11, 2011 for Model Number Maytag LSG7804AAM Running from cold, igniter glows and gas flame burns for about 12-15 seconds, then flames turn off. After about minute and a couple of cliks igniter glows and flame burns for about 6 seconds. This will be repeated every minute. I have replaced the both coils and the hight limit thermostat. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Javier. Test the flame sensor WP338906 and make sure it reads closed for continuity, and is making contact with the flames. If it is not working properly, you will need to replace the flame sensor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Scott So October 05, 2011 for Model Number 11070092991 Hi, the dryer turns on and will spin but the igniter doesn't glow. Of course no gas flame, then shuts down. Thanks for the help!
1 Answer Hi Scott. The igniter should read 50-800 ohms cold. If it is open then the new one is part # WP338906. Thank you. Read More...
Lisa October 05, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore 70 Series gas dryer 110-77732792 My Kenmore 70 series gas dryer will not heat up. I changed the ignitor but to no avail. Does not light up or spark at all. My next step was to check the flame sensor but I'm not sure how to check the continuity of it. Could you help? Any suggestions on getting it fixed would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Hello Lisa. The flame sensor WP338906 and the thermal cut offs should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Lin September 30, 2011 for Model Number LDG8600AAW The blue flame on my maytag dryer will work for about 10-12 minutes. Then it will click and the glow will come on but the flame will not come on again. The dryer will keep running forever with no heat if I do not open the door. After it rests for a couple of hours the flame will work again for 10-12 minutes. I am female and would like to try to fix this myself. Is it the flame sensor?
1 Answer Lin, No it's not the flame sensor, but its almost as easy a repair. You have a weak set of gas valve coils 279834. You will want to unplug the power cord to the dryer, remove the front panel assembly(2 phillipshead screws) and swing the panel up and out at the bottom,to remove. the valve is located in the right front corner, disconnect the wiring harness from the black colored cylinders on the top of the valve, remove the two phillipshead screws holding the top bracket to the valve body, and lift the bracket off. Lift up on the coil and slip it off the plunger assembly. Reverse the procedure and test the dryer for ignition and heat. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Carl September 28, 2011 for Model Number mdg3000aww flame goes on for 20 seconds then goes out comes back on 30 seconds later last 20 seconds goes out again i changed the coils, thermostat and gas valve still have the same problem i am going to dry disconnect the vent and run the machine and see what happens thanks
1 Answer Carl, Yes, re run your checks with the vent disconnected. The burner should be active for 50 to 70 seconds (average), with an empty drum. Also remove the lint filter and remove as much lint as possible from the housing below the filter. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Lee September 22, 2011 for Model Number Maytag MDG21PNAGW Dryer started running cold so took front off. Igniter glowed and gas flame was burning for about 10 seconds then switching off. There were a few clicks and then after 30 seconds or so it repeated the process. Over the last 4 days I have replaced the igniter, flame sensor, high limit thermostat and both coils and it is still not working. Also I have had the vent off and cleaned everything so I know that is clear. What could it possibly be? Please help.
1 Answer Hi Lee. You need to replace the cycling thermostat part # is WP694674. Thank you. Read More...
Bob D September 18, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore 11074972300 (11 yrs. old) Hi, I installed the flame sensor per your advice. I have also installed a 3392519 thermal fuse, 8577274 thermistor, 3403140 high limit t-stat and 279834 valve coils. The burner lights off just fine, but when the igniter shuts down (flame proven) the gas valve shuts down too. The whole vent system is clean as well as the blower blades. Have good air flow. Not sure what to do now. Maybe jack this dryer up and put another one under it due to age? Thank you for your help.
1 Answer Bob, Are you sure you have proper gas flow and pressure to the gas valve ? Then check and make sure the burner flame is large enough to partially encompass the igniter, or make sure the igniter is properly positioned on the mounting plate at the end of the burner. The igniter must be encompassed by the burner flame(so theres an orange glow to it) in order to maintain the low resistance and keep the coils energized during the burn process. Chris C. September 18, 2011 for Model Number WDB8300SW0 How do I assure the flame sensor is working? Is there an electrical measurement I can make prior to trying to start the dryer?
1 Answer Hello Chris. The flame sensor WP338906 should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Paul C. Neuman September 12, 2011 for Model Number sdg4606aww Flame igniter glows and flame dose not always light and when it dose light the flame dose not seem to be as big as i remember. Thanks
1 Answer Paul, If you're sure your gas supply to the dryer is proper, repalce the gas valve coils 279834 That would explain both the intermittent ignition and smaller sized flame you described. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
