Mark R. January 07, 2012 for Model Number 110.97565210 I have a Kenmore gas dryer, will not heat up. I replaced the ignitor, still doesn't heat up.
1 Answer Hello Mark. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor WP338906 and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rico December 31, 2011 for Model Number lgb6200pq0 Gas dryer, it will heatup at the beginig, but after a few minutes will cooldown. I already test the thermal fuse with a continuity tester, but it seems to be good. What exacly do you mean when You say to check the airflow is good ? Thanks
1 Answer Hi Rico. Check the airflow to make sure it is strong and force full coming from the dryer. Then make sure your complete vent system is clear and the vent hood outside is working properly. Ohm the flame sensor beside the ignitor to see if it may be weak. It should remain closed until the proper temperature is reached. It is part # WP338906. More then likely your gas valve coils aer weak and opening during use. they are part # 279834.Dryer Gas Coils: Check the coils 279834 and see if they test good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter MA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Thank you. Read More...
John Z December 24, 2011 for Model Number LGR7646AW0 Changed igniter. igniter will only glow and gas valve open if I jump out flame sensor. Is the sensor bad?
1 Answer John, Very Good, Yes you would have a faulty radiant/flame sensor WP338906 based on your post description/information. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Vincent December 21, 2011 for Model Number AMANA LGA20AW DRYER- GAS So I asked a local appliance store what I needed to convert my gas dryer to propane and all they gave me was this part (AP2910747).... is that really all I need? It seems like more would need to be changed. Thx, Vincent

Mike November 23, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool gas dryer When I turn on my whirlpool gas dryer the flame kicks on for about 5 mins then the flame shuts off. The igniter then kicks on and just glows for 5 seconds then shuts off for about 15 sec then back on for 5, this continues over and over. If I let the dryer sit and cool down the flame will come back on until it gets warm again. What part would fix this problem?
1 Answer Mike, You most likely have a weak set of coils on the gas valve, based on your post information. That's where you should start. If you have a "two coil valve like this 279923 you will need 279834 if you have a three coil valve you will need 279894 . Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Johnny E. October 28, 2011 for Model Number MDG7657AWW I have a gas dryer, model MDG7657AWW that will not stay heated. Every time I put it on, the flame comes on for about 21 seconds & then shuts off. I replaced the igniter, hi limit thermostat, cycling thermostat, thermal fuse, radiant flame sensor, and both coils & I'm having the same problem. All the vents have been cleaned out. What else could be causing this?
1 Answer Hello Johnny. If you have replaced all those parts, and you can run the dryer without the vent hooked up, and it still shuts off, you will need to replace the gas valve assembly WP306176. Hope this helps. Read More...
Sean October 20, 2011 for Model Number MDG7657AWW Maytag MDG7657AWW doesn't heat up properly. The igniter glows orange & the blue kicks on for about 20 secs, then shuts off completely. I changed the ignitor, coils, & flame sensor but I'm still having the same problem. Please help!
1 Answer Hello Sean. Check and make sure the flame sensor WP338906 and the igniter are getting enough heat from the flames of the unit. Also, make sure your air flow in the vent is good. You will want to test the thermal cut-offs and make sure they are good as well. Hope this helps. Read More...
Ranoutofideas October 18, 2011 for Model Number WHIRLPOOL LGR7648PQ0 Whirlpool Gas dryer (LGR7648PQ0) fires up only for the first few minutes. The coil glows but does not ignite, I hear a clicking sound though. Cleaned the vent, changed the coils and checked the continuity for the Cycling thermostats , Hi Limit thermostat and the flame sensor and all of them show continuity. The timer does not move when the dryer is on the auto mode but work when it is on the fluff air mode. What next??
1 Answer Hello RanOutOfIdeas. If the igniter is weak, it can cause the unit not to relite. Do you smell gas when the unit clicks and does not lite? If so, you will need to replace the igniter 279311. Hope this helps. Read More...
Buster October 18, 2011 for Model Number kgye66owal1 Dryer turns on ignitor does not lite, does checkout at 80 ,have 120 volts to gas valve. Sensor is closed plug that feeds ignitor has only 18 volts when running. What do you think?
1 Answer Hello Buster. You will need to test the thermal cut-outs and make sure they are good. If so, you will need to test and see where you are loosing the power to the igniter. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bob October 15, 2011 for Model Number lgr6636pwo Ignitor glows orange for a few seconds then I hear a click and the ignitor turns off. I did a continuity test on the ignitor and it failed, but when I reinstalled it, it worked fine, or at least seemed to. Is the ignitor "burning out" after few seconds or does this sound more like a coil problem? Or, something else?
1 Answer Hi Bob. Next to the ignitor is a flame senser, this will audibly click and the flame go out. Part # WP338906. The coils are part #279834.Check the coils 279834 and see if they test good. You can test the coils using a multi-meter MA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Thank You. Read More...
