Hello Mary. Check and see if the cubes are small and they are binding the fingers of the icemaker. If so, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit also.

Hello J.D., You need to determine whether water is leaking from the icemaker mold or if the water valve is not closing and overfilling it. If you could please post a new question and include the model number from the units' I.D. tag, we can help to diagnose and provide part numbers that will work and fit properly on your unit.

Dave, This issue would most likely be caused by a issue with the icemaker mold deterioration which would cause the icemaker to leak. The part that would be needed is the icemaker D7824706Q.

Diane for Model Number KSSS36QDX02

I am trying to replace my ice maker. I have a new unit that did not come with a new wiring harness. Also, my existing harness doesn't look like any of the ones that I see offered. The freezer side of my harness goes into a flat round plastic part that does not want to come loose from the semi-rigid plastic airflow panel. It's possible that the harness is still good, but the thermal fuse on my harness is not in the correct position to fit into the metal clip on the ice maker. It's off by about an inch. Can the clip be moved on the ice maker? It doesn't seem to want to slide, but I am reluctant to force it.

1 Answer

Hello Diane, You can move the clip if you are careful not to damage the heater tube. You should be able to pull it straight out with a pair of pliers and tap it back in the slot in the correct position for the fusible link to be held in place.

Kevin, With the unit filling with water and not stopping just as soon as it is plugged in then this would be a faulty water valve.

KT, With "new water inlet tubing installed" you should have enough water supply to the refrigerator (20 - 30 psi recommended), you may want to check it though. Then replace the water inlet valve WP2315576 / 2315576. If the water supply is good, then the solenoid plunger is "sticking" open, or there is debris or sediment developed on the internal components causing the problem.

Hello Charlie. If the icemaker is overfilling, replace the water valve. However, if the icemaker is leaking, just replace the icemaker.

Russ7172, The icemaker will make 8 cubes every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The red light will flash when you open the door and when you close the flapper on the left side it will glow solid. This means it is working normally.

Vango, Pull the drawer out and there will be a screw on either rail at the front. Remove the screw and go to the center of the door. You may want to make sure that it is empty and then you will lift the door off the rails.
