For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM12405033)

1 Answer

Hello George. Usually it cycles 6 to 8 bathes of ice within a 24 hour period. It is all based on the temp inside the unit and how much the doors are opened.

Hello Namvet. We do not have a diagram but there is a great video on the parts page that shows how to install the arm. Just click the video link on the parts page to see it.

Frank, When the ice is formed there is a thermostat in the head of the icemaker that will allow the unit to cycle once it reaches temperature. The cycle starts once that thermostat is at the proper temp, when the arm starts rotating there will be a click which turns on the heater on the ice mold. It will release the ice and then cycle through. When the icemaker gets to about the 11:30 position it will turn the water on to refill the icemaker then stop at its resting spot at the 1 o clock position.

John, If there is no ice and water filter system currently on the unit then you can install part number 4392949 on the supply line in order to have filtered ice and water.

Rita, If you remove the cover of the icemaker there will be a slot on the left side that you push in to release the wire harness on the icemaker and then you can push the new harness into this place.

Replaced the icemaker about a month ago. Produces ice. The only problem I noticed is, that the ice is not completely frozen. The cubes will freeze together in the tray. I need to increase the time the water is in the icemaker. I know it is a timing issue, because when I push the arm up with ice in it, wait a couple of hours and push the arm back down, the ice is not sticking together, so it had more time to freeze. Can I increase the time for the freeze cycle? There appear to be some adjustment screws (when u remove the cover). I can't find a manual. Thank you!

1 Answer

Alexander, There is no timing adjustment to the icemaker. If your freezer is too cold then it can cause the icemaker to cycle too rapidly causing the ice to eject before it has time to fully set. The operating temp of the freezer should be 0 degrees.

Orla for Model Number GI6SARXXF06

Ice maker does not make ice. Water dispenser does work however. Various sources indicate the water control valve should be a dual type valve. Mine is a single valve. It seems that there should be another valve or "tee" providing water to the ice maker. Can't find it. Must be behind the ice maker or the filter housing. Ice maker itself does not want to come out and does not seem to be mounted by the three screws noted in you video. Apparently this unit is not like any other refer. Thanks for any help.

1 Answer

Orla, The water valve would be located in the refrigerator compartment. There is a removable wall on the right side where the water filter lines go down. You will remove this wall and the water valve will be accessible. The water valve part number is WPW10312696.

Donna, First check the water filter EDR4RXD1 , is it time to replace it ? If the water flow is reduced, the ice maker and water dispenser can have fill problems. If the filter is OK, replace the fill valve WP67005154, first.

Michael, You will want to check the fill tube to see if the fill tube is frozen. If it is frozen then you will want to clean out the ice in it. If the fill tube is not frozen then the water valve would most likely be the issue and would need to be replaced.
