Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM12405033)

Hi Bob. The question is , do you have 120vac to the ice maker itself ? The lead wires has a black fuse in line that may be open. Unplug the lead to the ice maker and remove the ice maker. Remove the wire connector at the ice maker and test between the fuse with an ohm meter to see if it is open. make sure that you plug the connector in tight to the ice maker. You can replug the ice maker in place and remove the front cover. You can put your meter on 120vac and test to see if you have voltage between "L" (red lead) and "N" (Blk. lead). Is the bail arm correctly in place in the back of the head assembly, clicked in place? Make sure your fill tube is put back in correctly and is not frozen solid (remove and clear under the sink if needed). Thank you.

Tom for Model Number Jenn Air JRSD246W

My refrigerator is a side-by-side with icemaker at top of freezer side. The water is leaking slowly down the back wall and collecting in bottom of freezer area, then leaks out of bottom of freezer to the floor. It does not seem to be overflowing from icemaker , as I have taken it out and checked it for leaks. The inlet tube is clear. The only visible water and ice leaking is in the bottom ,on the back wall at circulation fan vent. The icemaker was replace 4-5 yrs ago, so is fairly new. I've never replaced water valve. The refrigerator is about 15+yrs old.

Hi Tom. The Ice maker is part # D7824706Q. It calls for the ice maker to send 120vac to the water valve at the correct time (after dejecting the cubes) for 6-7 seconds. The water valve is part # 12001414. If It stays open, gets sediment in the valve and does not close, it is very common to have the issues you have. Thank you.

Linda, First thing, check the freezer door light switch for operation. The power to the ice maker is supplied through the switch, a bad switch or wire would keep the ice maker from working. To remove the ice maker, there are two(2) phillips head screws that hold the ice maker to the side wall, loosen but you do not need to remove the screws. Raise the ice maker up until the slots in the mounting plate clear the screws, remove the icemaker and unplug the wire harness from the connector in the back wall, and remove the ice maker. Check the bottom of the ice maker mold, make sure the heater assembly is not damaged or broken.
