Hello Brenda, It takes some time for the water that fills the icemaker to come down to 20°F. The water temperature coming into the icemaker and how long the door was opened also contributes to the time required. While it will normally take less than 24 hours for the icemaker to cycle, the more often the unit door is opened, the longer it will take to come down to temperature and cycle.

Harry, you've supplied the same part number twice, so there'd be no difference. The 4317943 Whirlpool Ice Maker Kit will fit and operate in most all Whirlpool built refrigerators(Sears/Kenmore, KitchenAid, etc.), You may want to re post your question, and include the model number of your refrigerator, so we can check and verify the correct part number for the ice maker you need for your machine. Thanks,

Hello Angelo, The cycling thermostat in the icemaker has to reach 20°F before it will cycle and fill with water. You should install the icemaker and allow 24 hours before checking on it. This will allow time for it to cycle several times and there should be ice in the tray by the time you check on it.
