The Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It provides a watertight seal around the door to prevent water leaks during the wash cycle.  With a length of 66.5 inches, this part forms an airtight seal around the dishwasher door, preventing water leaks during operation.

Causes of a bad door gasket can include cracks and breaks developing from repeated exposure to temperature changes during wash cycles. Over time, rubber perishes leaving gaps that compromise the seal.

Symptoms of a failing door gasket:

  • Water pools on the floor in front of the dishwasher
  • Dishes remaining wet after a full cycle
  • Visible cracks or tears in the rubber

This genuine OEM  part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore dishwasher models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Gasket (Part Number: OEM18040818)

Woody, Unfortunately, we do not have the dimensions of this gasket available. Make sure that when installing the gasket that you are not sliding your fingers to push it in as it will stretch the gasket. Put the gasket in by pushing it in without sliding fingers along it. This is the correct part for your unit.

Hello: Similar question as a prior one (your answer below): Allowing the gasket to fit into the strange groove that extends out from the right side is self-explanatory. But on the left side, when you allow the excess to "extend past the groove", do you mean just let it sit straight towards the front, or do we curve it towards the right? Did not do it yet, but if there is a lot of excess, or too much, I would imagine it would bunch it and could cause the seal to pop or the door would be hard to close. If just allowed to extend as is, just in case, how many inches, just in case we need to trim any excess., Your answer to the other questioner: Answer Hello David, The door gasket does extend down into the strange little track below the bottom of the door. The other side just lays down there and the rest of the excess gasket material is allowed to extend past the groove. The purpose of this is to prevent any sloshing of the water in the tub from jumping the front of the washtub of the dishwasher. The bottom of the door cannot be sealed since it is used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. Thanks! Jim

Jim, You would just let the door gasket go straight out from the groove. It does not need to turned and should not need to be trimmed.

I am going to replace the door gasket on this unit. I notice that at the bottom right had side of the tub (when looking at the unit) it has a short gasket channel that extends a short way on to the actual bottom of the tub after fully coming down the right side, perhaps by about an inch or so. This channel extension does not appear similarly on the left side of the tub bottom which I find to be strange as it is not consistent. I am not sure if the original gasket extended into this small channel extension on the right side tub bottom. Should the new gasket also be fitted into this short channel extension on the right side tub bottom? On the left side of the tub, how far down beyond the end of that channel should the gasket go? Thanks

Dave, The door seal for your unit is part number WP902894. If you look at the description on the parts page it states that it is black in color and easy to install by press fitting it into channel. It does say around the door but is around the tub.

Hello Linda. You will need to scrub the scum off the gasket first. Then use less soap to prevent any more from building up on the gasket.

Hello Barbara, Sounds like you need to replace the door seal on unit. You will also want to make sure that your spray arms are not cracked or clogged.

Steve, the gasket should be longer on the right side of the tub opening. There is a remote chance the detergent latch gasket W10131752 could be leaking, but it wouldn't be as big a leak as you indicate. You most likely have a split in the seam of the lower spray arm 6-903473 or debris in the openings, directing water to the bottom of the door and forcing it through the gap between the door and tub. Thanks

We bought and installed this machine in 1996(!) and have had no problems other than having to replace a 5-dollar soap-door latch in 2001. Now, the gasket that seals the door to the machine has rotted away on the lower right hand corner, and water comes out from there. This model number doesn't come up in a search. Can you tell me if part AP4111635 will properly fit the 3/8 inch channel in the body of this machine where the door seals tight against the gasket? Seems like a standard part for a channel this size. With the right part, this seems like an easy fix. Thanks for your help!

Hello Karen. Based on the model number you provided, WP902894 is the correct door gasket for the tub assembly. Hope this helps.
