Brian May 15, 2022 If the water level sensor fails diagnostic can the recirculation pump not run in diagnostic mode as well? Everything else passes the diagnostic tests.
1 Answer Brian, if the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented. Read More...
Joe May 14, 2022 for Model Number IB450SS How to install sensor that cuts off the ice making when bin is full to eliminate the continuing of ice making forming large chunks of unusuable ice
1 Answer The old sensor will pull out and the new one will be pressed in. Wires are on a plug. Read More...
Jarhead May 02, 2022 for Model Number GI15NDXXS1 I have a Whirlpool GI15NDXXS1 under counter ice maker. It stopped filling with water recently, so I changed out the valve (Valve WPW10340983 / AP6019930) and it didn't work. I then tried the sensor (Sensor WPW10548509 / AP6022829) and it still does not fill with water. I don't know what else to try at this point. I know just because the part is new does not mean it is good. the sensor is reading 10.2 Ohm so I think that is good. Any suggestions? Jarhead for Model Number GI15NDXXS1 ANSWER Jarhead, Check to make sure that the water line is not frozen between the valve and the reservoir. If it is not then test to make sure that there is 120 Vac getting to the valve when it is supposed to fill with water. If it is not then the issue will be with the control board. My follow-up question is as follows- I know it is not the frozen issue since I am just turning the maker on. I tested the black and white wires on the valve and it seems as if it has a constant 120v so I think I am doing something wrong. Can you explain how I test the voltage (which wires perhaps). Or is their a way to test the main board or just replace it and see if it turns on? The Arizona summer is coming my way and I would love to get this ice maker working soon. Thank you for your help.
1 Answer Jarhead, Check to see if the water line between the fill valve and the reservoir is frozen. If it is then thaw it and put some insulation around it to keep it from freezing. If it is not then this would most likely be a control board issue. Read More...

Barry December 17, 2021 for Model Number barry.lewis2@wesleymc.com G115NDXXS Whirlpool ice maker. Does the water level sensor tell the water to STOP filling? Mine is overflowing. Or do I need a control board?
1 Answer Barry, The unit will have a timed fill and should stop filling after filling for several minutes. If it continues then this could be a water valve issue or a water level sensor issue. Read More...
Douglas May 25, 2021 for Model Number Whirlpool 10689583700 I ran the diagnostics and the unit blinked on the Fill Valve step and the reservoir was not filling. I replaced the Water Fill valve, turned the unit on and the reservoir is filling and stops at the top. The unit runs and seems to cycle as it should, i.e., runs water over the freeze plat, etc., but produces no ice. When I run diagnostics it still blinks on water fill valve, but the fill valve fills the reservoir. Any ideas? Thanks.
1 Answer Douglas, With the water running over the evaporator plate, check to see if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running but not freezing then there will be a sealed system issue that will require service. If the compressor is not running then check to see if there is power to the compressor and if there is then replace the overload and relay. If there is not power to the compressor then the issue will be in the control board. Read More...
Scott February 19, 2021 for Model Number GI1NDXTB3 I think I need a WPW10548509 but not sure. when I unplug the one I have the maker seems to work (until it overflows). when I plug it in the display LEDs dim and the water fill doesn't work. also not sure if my drain pump is working either, would this be related to this sensor as well?
1 Answer Scott, the fill level sensor WPW10548509 can create many issues if it has shorted. Based on the information provided, it sounds like this is going to be the case. Read More...
Chris August 10, 2020 for Model Number KUIS15NRTS0 I have run the diagnostics. The water sensor test then overflows with water and continues to blink. When I go to the water circulation test, nothing happens. I replaced the pump and water sensor, and still the same results. I replaced the control card and still no change. I am at a loss, thanks in advance
1 Answer Chris, it would be recommended that the wire harness is inspected for corrosion or damaged sections. If the wire harness is good, then the failure would most likely be the smart valve WPW10217917 based on the information provided. The smart valve is responsible for identifying how much water is provided to the water reservoir. Read More...
Dane March 19, 2020 for Model Number KUISI85JBL2 Unit switches to cleaning mode automatically. Only makes ice for 20-30 minutes. I've let it finish cleaning cycle, restarted and it goes back to cleaning mode. Unplugged, changed the main circuit board. Maybe the bin thermistor Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Dane, this model cannot automatically go into a clean cycle if a problem is detected by the control board. In that case the control will stop the ice making cycle and the clean light will blink out a code. This sounds more like a sticking control panel pad problem, the control panel switch assembly is part WP2185592 and the panel overlay is part 2208317W however the overlay is no longer available from the manufacturer. If you still suspect a thermistor as a test you can disconnect the evap plate thermistor and the control board will then default to a timed ice making cycle rather then through temp readings from the evap thermistor. A faulty bin thermistor will either prevent all ice-making or run ice-making cycles non stop overflowing the ice bin. Read More...
Eemueller January 17, 2018 for Model Number KUIS15NRTW2 The unit is making thin, cloudy ice. There is water flowing over the evaporator, but the reservoir is low, and the recirc pump is making noises like it trying to pump, but sucking air. I have checked the water flow to the unit (strong), and replaced the water inlet valve (shot in the dark). Could it be that the water level sensor has failed? Thanks.
1 Answer EEmueller, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty water level sensor WPW10548509. Read More...
