Nessie November 14, 2018 for Model Number MER8880AB0 My oven will only heat to about 280. This started 2 nights ago. The broiler will work and all the stovetop elements work. It takes forever for it to get to 280 and then it starts to loose heat.
1 Answer Nessie, You will want to check the bake element to make sure that it is good. The resistance of the element should be 16 ohms. If it is good then test to make sure that there is 240 vac getting to the element when set for bake. If there is not then this would most likely be a bad control board. If there is then check the oven sensor for a resistance of 1090 ohms at room temp. If the resistance at room temp is good then set the oven for 350 and check the resistance for 1654 ohms. 1 Answer Mike, There should be no need to "keep the door cracked open" when baking, on broil some people will leave the door open to the broil stop, so the burner doesn't cycle. The F1 and F3 codes indicate a problem in the oven temperature sensor circuit/wiring. That should be the first component to check or replace(especially if you do a lot of broiling, roasting, or extended bake times.
