The Oven Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, designed to accurately measure the oven's internal temperature and communicate it to the control board. This ensures that the oven maintains the desired temperature setting during baking or roasting, providing consistent cooking results.

Causes of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly can include exposure to high temperatures for prolonged periods, affecting the sensor's accuracy, electrical malfunctions like short circuits or wiring issues impacting its performance, and physical damage from cleaning or moving the oven compromising the sensor's integrity.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly include:

  • The oven does not heat to the set temperature
  • Over or undercooking of food
  • Error codes displayed on the oven's control panel

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Cathleen, The F2 error code would be a stuck key which would be the control board which it sounds like you may have received a faulty control board.

Hello Lorenzo. Key held down too long or shorted key. 1. Verify failure if not displayed, using CANCEL/OFF key. Press key for 5 seconds until last error code is displayed. 2. Disconnect power longer than 30 seconds. 3. Unlock key tail connector. Inspect connector locking tabs and key tail end for damage. Ensure locking tabs are not bent or broken and key tail is not creased or torn. 4. Reinsert key tail into connector. Ensure key tail is fully seated before locking down the connector. Once locked, tug key tail slightly to ensure lock. 5. Re-apply power and observe for longer than 1 minute. 6. If any false key presses occur or the failure remains, disconnect power, and replace keypad. 7. Repeat steps 3-6. If failure repeats, disconnect power and replace control.

Kassie B. for Model Number WFG361LVB3

Lately, our oven has been heating to a different temperature than what the display screen says and what we set it to. For example, I set the temp to 400 degrees, it seemed to heat up and it said it was at 400, but my bread only slightly baked so I pressed Cancel. Then when I re-set it for 400 and pressed Start, it only read 150 (after having supposedly been at 400 for the past hour). It worked fine the second time, baking the bread within 20 minutes. A similar thing happened last week except it must have actually been way hotter than it said because I set it to 375 (and the display read 375) but my potatoes completely burned setting off the fire alarm within 10 minutes. Does this seem like a sensor issue?

Kassie, The oven temperature sensor WPW10181986 is a good possibility, But based on your post description and information, it's more likely going to be an oven burner ignition problem, most likely a DSI Spark Module issue WPW10331686 the safety circuit in the control board or the capacitor(s) may be weak and causes the igniter to not spark and ignite the burner. 90 to 95 % of gas oven heat problems are due to an ignition system failure. You may want to start there first.

Melanie, With both the bake and broil not working you will want to check the power getting to the bake and broil element on the Terminal block side to make sure that there is not a broken or bad wire. If this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Hello Ben. You will want to test the oven sensor and make sure it is good. Most likely, the ignitor is weak and will need to be replaced on the unit W10918546.

Luke, The F3-E0 error is a oven sensor open. You will want to test the oven sensor for resistance of 1090 ohms. If there is the proper resistance at room temp the check the wiring between the sensor and the control board. If this checks ok then the control board would be the issue.

Lorraine, In order to get the wires that would go between the board and the sensor you would need to get the main wire harness which is part number W10556705.

Danny, This issue would not be caused by a oven sensor but you can test it for 1090 ohms. If the resistance checks ok then it is good. The most likely cause will be part number W10831410.
