Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM18065667)

Aslomeli, You will want to check the connections to the water heater and CCU (TH2 and HE2 Cavities) connectors to make sure that they are not broken or with wires detached and the the connector internal pins are visible. Check the continuity from the water heater sensor (black wires) to CCU (TH2) connector. If the continuity diagnosis failed the main harness must be replaced. Test the resistance of the thermistor and heater to make sure that they are good replace as needed.

Maury, the WPW10467289 Water Temperature Senor is located on the back of the tub. You will need to move the washer out and remove the rear access panel. The sensor is located in the right bottom corner area (5 o'clock) position. It should be a "friction" fit and somewhat easy to remove and replace.

Dj for Model Number WFW8500SR02

I also have the Whirlpool Duet Sport HT and I am getting the F24 error code. I opened up the front face as per the video to see if I could find the temperature sensor and check if the harness is loose or the sensor needs to be replaced - but there is a large baffle/weight or something covering the entire front of the tub so I can't see it. Do I need to remove this (and if so how?) or is this one of the models with the sensor access through the rear panel? Thanks in advance DJ

Hello DJ. If the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range (23°F to 217°F [-5°C to 103°C]) during the water-heating step of the WASH cycle. Possible Causes/Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check the water temperature sensor and connection to it. 3. Check resistance of heating element, if present on this model. (abnormal = infinity)

Tony, Based on tech sheet not all models have heater in which case the thermistor will send a message to the control board to turn hot or cold water on based on the resistance. With the thermistor testing at 10.57K ohms then it checks ok. You will want to check the connector that plugs into the thermistor for corrosion and if necessary clean with electrical contact cleaner. Also do a continuity test of the wire harness between the main board and the thermistor to make sure that the harness is good. If all checks ok then either the control board is most likely the issue, not reading the thermistor.
