Pete for Model Number wdt720padm2

Hi, I have a Whirlpool wdt720padm and keep getting white residue that looks like soap and a lot of times leaves plastic dishes greasy. I've cleaned the drain tube, spray arms and tub. I did the CLR, vinegar, vegetable oil, different detergents, semi-shine stuff but problem persists. Prior to this issue the circle pump quit working ( would not start ) so I replaced it and now it runs through its cycles. I can't remember if the pump was new or refurb, but could that cause the residue and inefficient cleaning?

1 Answer

Pete, You will want to check to make sure that you are not using too much detergent as this could cause the issue. Also check the pump to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the pump. Also check to make sure that the pump does not have anything clogged in it that would cause the dishwasher to not pump properly.

Trace for Model Number Whirlpool Quiet Partner I

I'm having an intermittent issue where when I run a wash cycle, the dishwasher will start normally, and then anywhere from 20 seconds to 10 minutes later it will stop, and the Start button will be blinking, and there will be about 2 inches of water in the bottom of the dishwasher. If I hit the Drain/Cancel button, it drains normally, so it's definitely not a clog. Sometimes the soap has been dispensed, sometimes not. I have checked to make sure the dishwasher is not overloaded and nothing is blocking the spinning components, and give the door a little extra push to make sure it's fully sealed, but the issue continues to happen off and on. I ran diagnostics and got the 3-3 error indication (3 flashes, pause, 3 more flashes) which refers to the optical water indicator/turbidity sensor. I have never done more complicated hands on appliance repair than untangle a VHS tape that got eaten. Is this something that I can replace easily myself?

1 Answer

Trace, the turbidity sensor is easily changed out by accessing underneath the dishwasher. It will sit directly on the sump housing and will twist out.

Ryan for Model Number 665.12773k11

My Kenmore Elite dishwasher is leaking around the turbidity sensor so I presume I need to replace this due to the lead. However when I hit start on the cycle it will fill with water and then it seems to lock up and not proceed any farther in the cycle. I try to hit cancel to drain it but it does not respond. No buttons respond on the keypad, but my cycle selection from the beginning is still it up. Could the turbidity sensor be causing this to lock up and stop running? Or is it a problem with the control board? Or what could it be?

1 Answer

Ryan, This issue would most likely not be caused by the turbidity sensor and would most likely be caused by a faulty control board on the unit.

Tim, You will want to make sure that you are using a rinse aid in the dishwasher and not leaving the dishes in there overnite with the door closed. If you are doing both of these then check to make sure that the heater is working. If there is no power to the heater then this would be a faulty control board.

Don, the turbidity sensor simply monitors the water to see how clean or dirty it is. This information is sent to the control to tell the DW to continue to run or that the dishes are clean. You may try running a cleaning product through the DW to help with the odor. We offer some products that are made for this very purpose. Also, there is always water in the bottom of the sump. This acts like a trap to help keep fumes from the house drain from coming back into the DW.

Dan for Model Number 665.13923k010

our Kenmore elite washer (665.13923k010) isn't draining fully. it does cycle, and drains some as i can hear it, but not all. and at end of cycle, there will be nasty, soapy/milky water left in bottom of washer. again, it does drain some, and has worked great till recently. One thing i also noticed that before i saw it wasn't draining, it seems to always leave soapy water/bubbles in bottom of pan. But ow, its just not draining (fully) I did replace the drain pump, but still get same result saw the turbidity sensor here---think that would do it? again, it seems to drain, but not fully. thoughts?

1 Answer

Dan, check the drain line where it attaches to your house plumbing to see if there is some kind of restriction. Also, make sure the drain line under your sink is properly installed with a vacuum break to keep water from running back into the dishwasher.

Man for Model Number Kude60hxss5

I bought this dishwasher used. I put it through a short test and it will not drain. We disconected the hose from the side so the water will drain out by gravity. Turned the dishwasher on to drain and the water in the hose was sucked back into the dishwasher we had the door open to see inside we tricked the dishwasher so it thought the door was closed and the drain pump seems to be running backward and agitating the water. The pump was replaced but we still had the same issue. Is it the turbidity sensor or the control panel?

1 Answer

Hello Man, You will need to check the diverter disc WPW10476221 and the motor diverter W10537869. It sounds like there is something in there preventing the unit from going completely to the drain position. If no debris is present, the diverter motor will be the issue.

Alexandre for Model Number 66513362k111

There is not much water filling in my dishwasher. Water comes in and stop before it even touch the float. I've tested the water valve, the float switch and the door latch switch. Everything seems fine with those part. I also tried to start a cycle with the water valve inlet filling in a bucket and the water comes out freely as long as you want. I now suspect the turbidity sensor to be the problem. Could a defective turbidity sensor be the cause of a water filling problem or should I look at something else.

1 Answer

A turbidity sensor does not determine how much water is going into the tub, that is determined by the inlet valve, float switch, I still lean toward the inlet valve being the problem, it may be a intermittent issue.

Jerry, the sensor you are referring to is located in the side of the wash sump, it is easily accessable by turning to left and pulling straight out.
