The Spark Module Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module sends electrical signals to the igniters, creating the spark that lights the gas for cooking.

Over time, the spark module can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. When the spark module becomes faulty, it can lead to various problems with igniting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

Burners not lighting or taking a long time to light
No clicking sound when turning the burner knob
Burners only lighting intermittently
Visible sparks or arcing from the module

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: This part is only compatible with serial numbers starting with 21 and up on model 8351VV.

Hi, wondering if you can help me. I came home today to find all 4 burners constantly clicking. I turned them on thinking it would reset them and it would stop but it didnt. I had to unplug the cooktop. We took the top off and plugged it back in, checked all the wires, the clicking continued and it seems to be coming from the white box, could the spark module need to be replaced?

Hello Rachel. If the switches on the cook top are good, then the spark module 12001596 could be the problem. Make sure the switches WP7403P367-60 are not sending power to the module. If not, you will need to replace the spark module. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Back 2 burners will not light. Igniter arks but wont light burner. Can manually light with match and works fine but not with front knobs.

Hello, you could have a dirty burner that is not allowing the correct gas flow to ignite. You could also have a damaged burner igniter. Unless you have little or no spark it could be a bad spark module. Thanks!

Out of 4 burners, one stopped sparking. Ordered two ignitors. Replaced , Did not spark! Asked question here and was advised to replace the spark module. Ordered the same. Came a broken piece( plastic to fit in the slot was broken) Tried the same. Still not spark in one burner. What else is wrong now????

Hello Mahomeowner. Check and make sure no wires are broken. If not, you will need to replace the igniter switch WP74009874. Hope this helps.

The top 4 burners on my stove all work fine except for the right front which has a spark, somewhat smaller in size than the other burners, however it can be lit with a match Will I need a spark module, and if so where is it located and which is the right part # My Serial # is 132*********?

Hello James. Make sure the igniter is clean and not cracked. If it is good, you will need to replace the spark module. The correct one according to the serial number you provided is 8215557. Hope this helps.

Is the spark module only for the top of the stove or is it also for the oven too? How soon should the flame lite for the oven?

Hello Mike. On your model number, the spark module is for the stove top only. The oven should lite within 60-90 seconds. If it is taking longer than that, you may need to replace the igniter 74007498. Hope this helps.

where do I find the spark module in this model stove. The burners worked fine last night and today not even a click so I am thinking it needs replaced.

Hello Jennifer. It is located on the back of the range at the bottom of the frame. It is usually on the right bottom corner, looking at the back of the range. You will see several wires going to it. Hope this helps.

I have all 4 burners spark but it takes at least a minute or two to get them to ignite. It happens on all 4. I checked the gas flow and it's not a problem I can smell gas when I leave it on for a little bit. Is there any other part I should be looking at outside of the Gas Ignition Module? Thank you Darko

Hello Darko! Check the location where the burner and ignitor meets (there should be a little slit where the gas comes through) this should be clean. If dirty this will cause it from igniting when it should. If the burner area is all clear you could have a bad spark module 8215557. Hope this helps!

I have a Maytag CHG9800BAE and I am unable to find the location of the spark module so that I can replace it. I thought it was underneath the top assembly but I have been unable to locate it thus far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Leo March 26, 2011 for Model Number 68-2543-80

I have an Admiral gas range Model # 68-2543-80 Serial# 14C335273332 . The top burners are acting erratic. Sometimes click and lite properly, other times no clicking and have to light manually with a bic lighter. I'm figuring it's a sprk con trol module, just not sure which on. Double checked the model # but dosen't seem valid. Unit is on the old side.

Hello Leo. If you are having an issue with all of the burner acting "erratic" then it does sound like the spark module could be the issue. Unfortunately I am unable to find your model number in any of my data bases so I am unable to verify if this spark module will work with your model. This does say it works with older Admiral models so it might be worth trying. Hope this helps.
