Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dispenser Lever Retainer (Part Number: OEM18018363)

1 Answer

John, You would want to install a check valve at the bottom of the door for the dispenser dripping. The dispenser lever retainer would have nothing to do with the water dripping. To remove the panel, use a flat blade under the front lip of the bottom of dispenser face and pry outward. The panel will pop loose and you can remove.

Hello Mel. There is no need to remove the cover. You need to make sure the filter is good on the unit. If so, try removing the water line from the valve and see if water comes out there when you press the dispenser. If not, but there is power to it, you will need to replace the water valve W10408179. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hans M. for Model Number Whirlpool Conquest GS6SHAXML00 - color: black and grey front

My water dispenser is "loose" because this part (acting as spring) which is supposed to "push" the water dispenser lever "out" is bent (don't know why it's bent?, thus the lever is not spring "loaded". How do I replace this part? I have removed the front part. Then it's dangling by the cable. there is circuit board covered with a piece of white paper-board in front of it. Before I make mistake I thought I stopped and reinstalled everything. Actually I loosen the screw holding that part, but since it's to tight to work on it, I might not be able to reinstall it.

Hello Hans. When you remove the front cover off the dispenser, you will unplug the cable going to it. Then you can access the screw for the retainer WP2194719 and remove it. Make sure the unit is unplugged from the power before doing this repair. Hope this helps.
