Answer Hello Mel. There is no need to remove the cover. You need to make sure the filter is good on the unit. If so, try removing the water line from the valve and see if water comes out there when you press the dispenser. If not, but there is power to it, you will need to replace the water valve W10408179. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
