The Gasket and Strike Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to ensure a tight and leak-proof seal around the dishwasher door. This kit includes a door gasket and a door strike, both crucial components in preventing water from leaking out during the wash cycle.

Causes of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit can include normal wear and tear from regular use, leading to a loss of elasticity in the gasket.

Symptoms of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit include:

  • Water leaking from around the dishwasher door.
  • Difficulty closing the dishwasher door or ensuring it stays latched during operation.
  • Visible signs of wear, such as cracks or hardening on the gasket, or bending or damage to the strike.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hi Ray. The door seal part # W10542314 is applied with the widest (sides ribbed) in first. This will insure holding. You will need to center the gasket and make sure both lt. and rt. ends match any length or gap to the bottom of the tub for a reference point. It is normal that it takes a dozen times of operating to get it "worn-in" again. You will get used to using both hands to open and close initially. Thank You.

Hello. Once the gasket is pressed in place correctly, it should stay in. If yours keeps falling off, you may need to replace the gasket. The ribbed side goes into the grove. Hope this helps.
