The Gasket and Strike Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to ensure a tight and leak-proof seal around the dishwasher door. This kit includes a door gasket and a door strike, both crucial components in preventing water from leaking out during the wash cycle.

Causes of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit can include normal wear and tear from regular use, leading to a loss of elasticity in the gasket.

Symptoms of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit include:

  • Water leaking from around the dishwasher door.
  • Difficulty closing the dishwasher door or ensuring it stays latched during operation.
  • Visible signs of wear, such as cracks or hardening on the gasket, or bending or damage to the strike.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Kay, When you install the door seal the best way to install is to start in the with the middle of the seal at the middle of the door and work around each side. You may also want to check your lower spray arm WP8268332 for damage. Check for cracks or holes that could cause the spray arm to spray downward causing water rippling.

Mike for Model Number KUDS01DJSS0

I am the same Mike who asked the previous question regarding the "significant leak". Thanks for your attempted response. When I went back and read my own question, I can see how I mislead your diagnosis. The leak is coming from the bottom of the front door (in the center from right to left), not where that latch mechinism is located (I think). When I look at the parts diagram, the door seal appears to span both sides of the unit along with the top. The bottom of the door (where your feet would be if you faced the front of the unit) doesnt appear to have any visible seal and this is where the water is flowing from. This is where I get confused as to which part I need to replace. Thanks again for taking the time and answering our questions.

Hello Mike. Check and make sure the unit is not over filling, and then check the inside of the door and see if the unit is leaking inside the door. If not and both of these are good, you will need to replace the air inlet WP8268937. Hope this helps.

Hello Mike. If it is leaking at the latch assembly in the top, you will need to replace the door seal W10542314 on the unit. Make sure there is not to many suds inside the unit causing the leak on the unit. Hope this helps.
