Jim R May 27, 2014 for Model Number MHW2000AWW yes on my last wash a metal to metal screeching sound began as the agitator operated and eventually the tub no longer agitated. It did go thru one spin cycle or so before dying..When I opened the washer door I could see the tub had also dropped down. So I think the support in the front may be broken. I saw the other questions and answers but not sure where the baffles are that can be removed so an inspection can be made...I also saw where someone said they replaced the tub bearings. I think the bearing or bearings went bad first and then caused the front support to break...Can u confirm and indicate what parts would be involved...Thanks
1 Answer Jim, The baffles are what are inside the unit and there are 2 screws holding each one of the 3 baffles in place. When you remove the baffles there are bolts behind the baffles. If any of these are broken then the spinner support W10181639 would need to be replaced. Andrew March 31, 2014 for Model Number MAH21PNDWW Loud thumping coming from machine during spin cycle. Machine is level and does not move when I try to rock it by hand. But when the thumping starts the machine starts to rock. I replaced the tub bearings a year ago. Is it the struts on the bottom or is it the support?
1 Answer Andrew, You will want to check the spinner support which may have broken and would cause the thumping noise. Check for lateral movement of the tub by pushing up and down on the inner tub. Amyg79 December 17, 2013 for Model Number MAH7800AWW My washer started leaking a little a couple days ago. Last night it had a burning rubber smell coming from inside the tub, there was also smoke. I checked the belt, motor and pump, all looked good. I pulled the back cover, top and front and found that the smell of burning rubber only comes from inside the tub and no where else. Any suggestions as to what might be the issue?

I use the regular spin thinking it's less noise than the max extraction - I can't even imagine what the max sounds like! 1 Answer Ron, Are you sure you need the drum support W10181639 ? You didn't mention an issue. The MTG "Neptune" washer has always had a "two piece" drum system. The spinner support W10181639 and the spin basket 6-2717080 . The spinner mounting bolts are located inside the three (3) rear baffles 22001985 remove the two Phillips head screws at the front center and rear center of the baffle and remove the assembly, you'll see the 1/2 inch nut that holds the basket to the support. Pmc July 25, 2013 for Model Number MAH21PNAWW During the spin cycle, the machine sounds like a jet engine. I suspect bearings going bad. Is this diagnosis correct? If so, I looked up what I thought was the necessary parts found W10181639 (AP4324795). Is this all I would need to reapir this machine, or do I need to replace the shaft. I was told the outer tub is needed to be replaced in other models, but this model # does not require that. Is that correct? Appreciate your help and expert advice.

If the support arms are OK, and the shaft is not gauged, or has deep scratches, you won't need it. Lee H March 01, 2013 for Model Number Maytag Neptune MAH8700AWW Knocking on front right of machine during spin cycle (standing in front). Opened the top and the tub is not sitting level. It may be supposed to be this way. Have looked at your answers already and think maybe the shocks are bad due to it not being level. However, also looking at the 3 arm tub support too. 1 Answer Lee, There are also springs WP34001274 that hold the tub up, They attach to the outer tub and mount to the cabinet flange on each side. You'll want to check and make sure the cabinet flange isn't bent or deformed and the springs aren't stretched or broken,etc. If the spinner support was defective, you would normally hear a knocking noise,during the high spin speed(especially) but the tub position wouldn't be affected. You also want to check and make sure the washer is levelled in both directions and all four feet are on the floor solidly and the leg locking nuts are tight. Read More...
