Mark F. January 20, 2014 for Model Number JGD8430ADF I have a Jenn Air Gas on Glass downdraft cook top. I broke the fan switch. How do I remove the glass top to access the fan switch? It looks like the cook top is sitting on a black foam tape. I cannot see any brackets or tabs that are holding the unit to the cabinet. Thanks, Mark
1 Answer Hello Mark! Shut off the power and gas supply to the unit. You'll then need to remove the grates, knobs, and burner caps. The cooktop will lift up from the counter. There are screws securing the burner bas to the orifice holder which will need to be removed. Lift upward on the burner base, disconnect the igniter wires, and remove the burner base. Once this is completed the top will lift up and off. You'll have access to the fan switch to remove and replace. Hope this helps you, thanks! Read More...

Dale August 24, 2012 for Model Number Jenn Air CVE 3400W Good Morning...I must replace the fan switch(bottom right range surface) and I am uncertain as to how to remove the top panel to have access to the switch. Hopefully, I do not have to remove the total unit and I will be able to access from the top. However, I do not see a screw that will allow me access. Hoping in North Carolina. Thank you!
1 Answer Dale, Sorry, but you will need to raise the cooktop at least a couple of inches, so you can remove the perimeter screws that hold the frame to the burner box. Most servicers would turn the power off disconnect the vent pipe from the blower, remove the knobs vent and the screws that hold the plenum to the frame,Raise the unit enough to slip a couple of 1x2 planks under the ends of the cooktop to support it, then remove the perimeter screws and lift the top off the burner box. Replace the switch and reverse the procedure. Read More...
Mark July 16, 2012 for Model Number JED8430ADB Needing to know how to install this part. This fan switch is different from the original and I have 3 wires with 2 connectors. Please advise as to how to install this part in my model.
1 Answer Mark, First, you'll need to determine the L1 (black) power lead from the terminal block, and label it. Then determine the L1 (black) wire that goes from the fan switch to the down draft motor. Remove the existing fan switch an any additional wires to the switch. Attach the black wires to the terminals on the "new" switch, and install. The internal components of the new switch will control the on and off and the fan speed. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Jenny, On a two terminal on/off switch, it doesn't matter which is hot and which is neutral. The switch is just used to pass voltage. Read More...
Mike March 25, 2012 for Model Number Jenn Air Model CV3401B I purchased a new switch, part number AP4097683 from you (order number 2481353) for our Jenn-Air glass cooktop. The switch did not come with a mounting nut. The nut from the old switch does not fit (too big). Is there a new nut available?
Ptblvet June 26, 2011 for Model Number jed8430adb I've talked with your support team that assures this is the correct part. The old switch is a different style (spring loaded knob is one piece with the switch). How do I make the new switch style work? Old part number PHS120A-3377.
1 Answer Hi Ptblvet. The fan switch part # is WP74009254. This is the manufacture replacement part #. You might also need the Knob that goes with that fan switch. The knob (that goes with the switch) is part # WP7739P122-60. I hope this helps.Thank-you. Read More...
Sweetness May 09, 2011 for Model Number Jed8430adb I'm trying to replace the fan switch 74009254 and have unscrewed the cover but cannot get it to come out of the unit. Surely the glass top doesn't need to come off does it? Help!
1 Answer Hello Sweetness. According to the manufacture, you will need to remove the main top. Here are the instructions from the manufacture. Hope this helps. Main Top Removal 1. Disconnect power to cooktop. 2 Remove cooktop from installation position and place face down on protected surface. 3. Remove screws securing main top to burner box bottom. 4. Remove screws securing control panel box and conduit mounting plate to burner box assembly. 5. Remove main top. 6. Reverse procedure to reassemble, verifying that cooktop frame is properly aligned. NOTE: Make sure the pieces of insulation, located in the front left and right rear corners, are put back in place. Failure to do so could create excessive cabinet temperatures. Read More...
