The fan control switch is the panel-mounted switch that sends power to the appliance's fan motor. Replacing a worn switch restores reliable on/off control and proper airflow so the fan starts and stops when it should.

  • Provides user-operated on/off power to the fan/blower motor
  • Helps regulate airflow for cooling, venting, or convection depending on model
  • Typical symptoms: fan won't run, runs continuously, intermittent operation, or a loose/broken switch shaft
  • Mounts behind the control panel and is actuated by the exterior knob/lever
What's included: One fan control switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
  • Remove the control knob/actuator and panel trim to access the switch
  • Note wire positions or take a photo; transfer wires one at a time to the new switch
  • Secure with the original hardware, restore power, and test operation

Hello Mark! Shut off the power and gas supply to the unit. You'll then need to remove the grates, knobs, and burner caps. The cooktop will lift up from the counter. There are screws securing the burner bas to the orifice holder which will need to be removed. Lift upward on the burner base, disconnect the igniter wires, and remove the burner base. Once this is completed the top will lift up and off. You'll have access to the fan switch to remove and replace. Hope this helps you, thanks!

Dale, Sorry, but you will need to raise the cooktop at least a couple of inches, so you can remove the perimeter screws that hold the frame to the burner box. Most servicers would turn the power off disconnect the vent pipe from the blower, remove the knobs vent and the screws that hold the plenum to the frame,Raise the unit enough to slip a couple of 1x2 planks under the ends of the cooktop to support it, then remove the perimeter screws and lift the top off the burner box. Replace the switch and reverse the procedure.

Mark, First, you'll need to determine the L1 (black) power lead from the terminal block, and label it. Then determine the L1 (black) wire that goes from the fan switch to the down draft motor. Remove the existing fan switch an any additional wires to the switch. Attach the black wires to the terminals on the "new" switch, and install. The internal components of the new switch will control the on and off and the fan speed.
