For Whirlpool Cooktop Infinite Switch (Part Number: OEM18145395)

Jb for Model Number CCE3401B

Have replaced the glass on the cook top because tentant told me the glass was broken. It affected the left front and left rear burners. my question is when you turn on the switches for the left front and left rear the burners operate than seen to power down than reheat up per my tentant. The right two burners operate perfectly fine. There appeared to be no damage to the burners when I replaced the cooktop glass and everything worked fine. Could both left switches be going bad? Any ideas before I replace the switches or burners..

Jb, The most likely cause for this issue would not be with the switches but would be more likely to be faulty elements. It is possible that the limiters could have been damaged by the top when broken.

Randy for Model Number JED8430ADB

I purchased switch 71001166 for the right side switch controlling the small rear burner. Some of the question/answers here give the impression this switch is universal to both sides, but I don't see how. The knob is 90 degrees off for the right side, but is aligned when installed on the left side of the cooktop. The knob mounts are aligned at 45 degree angles to the cooktop. Basically, the left side infinite switches have the post aligned pointing to the mounting screws and the right side switched have the post aligned at 90 degrees. My question is, does the other infinite switch listed - 74011242 really have 4 mounting holes on top. That would be truly universal for both sides. Or, am I missing something and installing 71001166 wrong?
