This off switch is a small electrical switch that opens the circuit to stop a function or cycle when triggered by the appliance's mechanism or control. Replacing a worn switch restores reliable shutoff and consistent operation. What it does:

  • Interrupts power to stop operation when actuated by a lever, cam, or latch
  • Sends an "off" signal to the control for proper shutdown
  • Helps correct issues like a function that won't shut off or stops intermittently
  • Can resolve situations where jiggling a door/lever is needed to make a function stop
What's included:
  • 1 off switch
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power (unplug or switch off the circuit breaker) before servicing
  • Access the switch, note wire positions, and transfer wires terminal-for-terminal
  • Mount the new switch securely; avoid bending the actuator more than necessary
  • Restore power and test operation before full reassembly

Kevin for Model Number GX900QPPS2

I have replaced the motor on this unit. Along with the drive gear. The unit will not stop when I push the start button. I have to turn it off when the grinding sound starts. This went on for about a week. Now I can't even do that . When I push the start button it just makes that horrible sound it was making at the bottom of the stroke of compactor. I have removed the Upper limit switch and the on/off/start switch. I am going to check the upper limit switch for continuity tomorrow at work, but can I test the on/off/start switch somehow? Seeing your other answers could it be the new motor is now burnt up as well?

1 Answer

Kevin, To test the start switch you would just test it for continuity. If it checks ok then the limit switch would likely be the cause for this issue.

Hello Bill. You will need to check and make sure the switch is wired properly. If so, then you will need to replace the motor on the unit. The switch in the motor has failed.

Brogan, If you're sure the top limit switch is properly adjusted, so the switch activates when the ram reaches the top, The next component to check or replace would be the motor centrifugal switch W10439651 If you have a stuck contact there it will also react the same way a directional switch does. Good Luck and Thanks
