David April 22, 2024 for Model Number 665.13619100 Replaced off/on switch, the off-switch, and the directional switch on trash compactor model # 665.13619100. Works like it is supposed to on normal pac. When I use extra pac cycle, the compactor quits when I release the start knob. If I hold the start knob down manually, the compacting ram will come down. When I release the start knob the ram stops. Will not complete the cycle. Then I press normal compaction and it returns. Anotherwords just the normal pac cycle works and the extra pac cycle dosen't.
1 Answer David, This issue will most likely be a failure of the selector switch part number 9871821. Make sure that the wiring to it is good and tight and if not then the switch will be the most likely cause. Read More...
Edward March 14, 2018 for Model Number GX900QPPQ2 Compacter will cycle but not compact no down pressure at all.
1 Answer Edward, You will want to check power screws to make sure that they are not stripped out but if these check ok then it sounds like the issue will be a weak motor. Read More...
Gene August 23, 2016 for Model Number GX900QPLQ0 My compactor doesn'tt automatically shut off. When it returns to the top position. It seems to work properly other than that. I suspect that the directional switch WP777811 has failed. Can this be replaced without removing the compactor from under the counter? Tile would have to be cut out to get it out from the counter. Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Hello Gene. According to the manufacturer, it will need to be pulled out to replace that part. Read More...
C P Lee June 30, 2016 for Model Number 6651396582 The gear assembly had broken teeth and had quit working. I replaced both gears on the bottom. The compactor would then go to the bottom and the motor would keep pushing down until it finally came back up. This kept up for a few cycles and then finally it stripped the small cog.
1 Answer C.P. L, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty directional switch part number WP777811. Read More...
Gwen C. July 15, 2015 for Model Number 6651358551 Our kenmore trash compactor comes on but doesn't compact. When I turn it on it sounds like its in the up position: making a clicking sound that it makes when it finishes compacting & in the up position. My question is: could the part we need be the directional switch?
1 Answer Hello Gwen, This can be the directional switch WP777811 or the motor switch which is only available as a part of the motor assembly W10439651. Read More...
Phyl C October 01, 2014 Lever that presses directional switch to tell ram to go down is missing. Can I buy just a replacement lever?
1 Answer Phyl, The lever cannot be replaced separately and you would need to replace the directional switch. Read More...
Paul August 29, 2014 for Model Number Ken Moore trash compactor 665-13619100 When I turn the knob to start the cycle, the compactor goes through the full cycle and when completed makes a pounding noise and won't shut off until I return the knob to the off position. I was told to change the directional switch and ordered this from you and changed it. The unit still won't shut off until I turn the knob. Any other suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Paul, This sounds like you need to replace the motor switch. Since the part crosses to the complete motor assembly, you will need to order part number W10439651. You should call us for a return authorization on the limit switch at 1-877-477-7278. Read More...
Dale H. January 02, 2014 for Model Number kenmore trash compactor 665-13619101 The ram will not stay down on extra pack. It returns as if normal compacting.
1 Answer Hello Mike, If the dispenser will only give crushed ice you should check first for a build-up of smaller ice particles in the bottom of the crusher bin. This will freeze up and prevent the diverter from being able to be kicked out of the way. If there isn't enough ice build-up in the bottom of the crusher bin to cause the issue, make sure the solenoid in the bin shelf is not stuck in the up position and that the lever in the crusher bin will operate. If the arm is stuck, you need to put the ice in a bowl, turn off the ice maker and leave the crusher bin out overnight to allow it to reach room temperature. If it will still not operate, it may have to be replaced. If it does, and the solenoid is not stuck in the up position, you will need to make sure the solenoid is not frozen up. If it is, you will hear the solenoid being energized, but it will not kick up in the cube position. If the solenoid is frozen, you can thaw it out with a hair dryer in about 10 to 15 minutes. If this method solves the issue, you should check the ice door for air leaks with a flashlight, (if you can see light in the ice chute on the inside side of the door when shining in from the outside, there is an air leak and the ice door will have to be repaired). The solenoid normally only freezes up if the freezer is set to run below 0°F or moisture is getting into the area from room temperature humidity. Read More...
Ron F November 02, 2013 for Model Number SHC8000 My trash compactor was banging when it reaches the end of the compacting cycle. I removed the top limit switch and check it with an ohm meter. It aprears to be funtioning. However, when I reinstalled the top limit switch the unit doesn't cycle at all when you press the on button, it just begins to bang. Can I get a wire diagram to double check my placement of wire. If wire correctly then what? Thanks Ron
1 Answer Ron, The model number is not pulling up for us but you will want to check the ram and the corkscrew as that sounds like it would be more of the problem with the banging noise. Read More...
