Causes of a bad upper closure cam can include regular use, accidental damage, or excessive force applied to the door.

Symptoms of a bad upper closure cam include:

  • Difficulty in closing or opening the refrigerator door.
  • The door not staying securely closed.

  • Excessive noise or squeaking when operating the door.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Al, unfortunately, as the manufacturer has discontinued the lower cam 2307048 and WP2307049, we would not be able to guarantee that an alternative would fit properly and have the same closing points.

Steve, This would most likely be too much weight on the door and it is possible that the cams are damaged.

Neal for Model Number 106.41129210 Kenmore side by side.

Hello, I have received upper and lower door cams. I purchased these two parts as recommended. The problem I'm having is when I install these two parts they do not install at 90 degrees. When installed like the original parts, and your video, the cams do not mate. The freezer side which is original shows the proper mating of the cams. on the new install, refrigerator side, the cams are at 45 degrees which cause the door not to work. Any help would be appreciated. I can also send you a picture if you like. Thanks, Neal

Neal, the manufacturer indicates that the lower cam for the refrigerator door would only be available as part of the door hinge W11049959. The use of a different cam can potentially cause alignment issues.

Kathy, the best way to identify where the noise would be coming from would be to be as close to each part as possible while the noise is occurring. This will allow the identification by verifying where it is loudest.

Andy, There is a second cam that is attached to the door and you will want to make sure that the upper cam is not broken. The door will not close on its own and does have to be pushed to close.

Hello Jennifer, You should definitely lubricate the door cams. It is common to use a liquid antibacterial soap for this purpose. A light multipurpose grease such as WP20000030 can also be used.
