For Whirlpool Washer Timer (Part Number: OEM10816263)

Lynn, Your husband is pretty close to target. First check the lid switch 285671 and lid hinges etc.to make sure the switch is mounted and secured to the top properly, make sure there's no loose lid hinges and bearings. If the switch is not making proper contact, the washer won't drain and spin. If all's OK, then replace the timer 285938.

Chasbone, You'll need to check the wiring at the load sensing switch W10292584 and the delay timer on the back of the mechanical timer W10104800. Both these components control the water fill process, and the timer advancement. If there are no loose connections or damaged wiring, replace the sensor switch.

Hello Brian, This sounds like a burned set of contacts in the timer 285938. It should be the only thing different in the circuit during the regular cycle.

I have been experiencing the following problem. Start the washer and it fills properly and begins to agitate (so far so good). The timer dial turns but when it reaches the rinse I hear it click but it does not switch cycles, it continues in the wash cycle. Same thing happens at the spin cycle, hear the click but continues to agitate until it reaches the off position. Then the washer stops with a full drum of water. Regardless of where I start the washer it will stay in that cycle until the timer reaches the off position and it never switches to the next cycle. Once the timer dial reaches a point that should trigger a new cycle, if I stop and restart the machine at that point the new cycle triggers but will stay in that cycle until the end. Is this a faulty timer? Thanks for any advice.

On regular, my water level fills up fine and it runs through until it hits the rinse cycle. It stops and the timer just stays in the same spot even after awhile. I push in the knob and turn it back to the same spot and pull the knob to get it started. This may take as much as 10 tries. Sometimes I would put it a bit past the part it stopped and it might run again. After 5-10 minutes, it stops before before the spin cycle. I push the knob in and repeat the process. I'm not sure if it is a timer problem or a lid. The lid seems to be working fine and i can push down on the lid switch. Do you think it's a timer problem?

Anthony, Before you replace the timer, you should access, and check the lid switch and wiring. You may have a loose wire connection or intermttent contact inside the switch. You may also want to disconnect the air tube from the water levels switch and blow into the hose, to clear any debris in the tube, that may be causing the switch to operate improperly. Thanks
