Jerry, check to see if there is 120 volts going to the gas igniter, it there is voltage and it does not light up, replace the igniter, part number is 279311

Ronnie, Unfortunately we do not have a wiring diagram on this unit to be able to assist properly. Normally the timer is color coded and you just plug up to the corresponding letters. This timer is showing to be the exact same part as what came off the unit so should just be able to transfer wires from one to the other and put in the same positions.

Hello David. If there is power coming to the timer motor, and it does not advance and turn off, you will need to replace the timer on the unit. As for the correct part needed, we will need your full model number. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Recently, our dryer has been acting up. No problems with the motor, heating elements, etc. The problem appears to be with the Timer unit. A year or so ago, the START button stopped working, but we have always been able to start the dryer by simply turning the timer knob counter-clockwise into the "timed dry" area. It would run for the set amount of time and then cut off as usual. No problem. After a while we noticed that, after we reached the set point (60 min. for example), we would have to "jiggle" the timer handle to get it to run. Today it has finally decided not to run at all. Do you think its the timer unit, or could it be something else. Its old, not sure we want to put much into repairing it. Thanks!

Hello Mitchell. Based on the information you provided, it does sound like the timer is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Make sure the thermal fuse and the door switch is good.

Charles, Yes you will most likely need to replace the timer WP9830714. you also need to check the resistor 279872 attached to the timer terminals to make sure it has not failed first. If it has failed, the timer will not advance, also.
