Jen December 03, 2014 for Model Number LGC6646AQ1 Dryer timer does not advance. It stopped heating last last week. I removed the Thermal Fuse and Cycling Thermostat and had them tested. Cycling Thermostat was fine. Thermal Fuse was bad so I replaced it and the Gas Valve Coils, since they were also a possible culprit of timer not advancing. Thermal Fuse cured the heating problem. Nothing has fixed timer advancing issue. I even tried removing timer to have it tested, but was told they are unable to test for bad timers. Is my problem likely a bad timer? Is it possible to tell for sure if timer bad? I really don't want to spend $106 on a new timer unless I know it will fix problem. If I do order a new timer and it doesn't fix timer advancing problem can I return it for refund?
1 Answer Jen, With the timer not advancing, it does sound like the motor on the timer is faulty and would need to be replaced. The part number for the timer is WP3976574. Here is a link to our return policy. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/customerservice/returns.aspx Read More...
Pat August 28, 2013 for Model Number Ler7646dqo Would a bad timer cause a dryer not to turn on? I checked all fuses and switches and they seem good. Have voltage. Can hear timer running but does not move. Was having to jiggle timer a bit to get it to turn on sometimes now wont turn on at all. Thanks.
John April 26, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool LGT7646DQ0 Would a bad timer be responsible for no heat? I know from other sections of your site the answer may also be the Igniter. Which is more likely to be the culprit? Thanks for any insight.
1 Answer John, The most likely culprit would be a bad igniter, flame sensor or gas valve. You can check to make sure that you are getting power to the igniter by accessing the igniter and turn unit on. If the igniter does not glow then you will want to check to make sure that you are getting power to the igniter. Unplug the igniter and check across the terminals for 120 vac with unit running. If there is not 120 vac then then you will need to check from black to ground to make sure that you are getting 120 vac. If you are still not getting 120 vac then the problem would be in the motor switch. If you are getting 120 vac then you would want to check the High limit thermostat and thermal fuse for continuity. If there is no continuity replace the part. If there is continuity on both then the timer would be the issue. Read More...

Allcia R. May 15, 2012 for Model Number lec7646dq1 The drum will not tumble, but it heats. I checked the belt and it's not broken. The drum will turn if you turn it with your hand. Is this the timer or something else?
1 Answer Hello Allcia, The belt 341241 is off. The belt on a dryer doesn't just come off by itself. Normally the idler pulley WP691366 or the drum rollers 349241T,(two of these) have started resisting rotation to cause the belt failure. If the belt in on and not broken, and it's heating, the problem is most likely the motor run winding is open which will require the motor 279827 replacement to correct the issue. Read More...
