Richie, First, check that the replacement motor is wired correctly. The door switch is working correctly, based on your description so check the start switch for a "momentary" contact when the knob is turned to start the dryer, the switch circuit should "open" when the knob is released. If all's Ok replace the timer.

James, the resistor can be visually inspected for damage and broken connectors bu then you would need a multi meter to check for 3 to 5 ohms resistance across the resistor terminals. The timer resistor seldom has an issue, if that will help you out. You'll want to check the timer cam chart and circuits or replace it based on your post information.

Charles, Based on the wiring diagram You will have a black wire which will go to B or black on timer. The Blue wire will go to BU, the violet will go to V, Red will go to R, White black wire will go to WB, Orange will go to OR.
