Steve November 22, 2014 for Model Number Crosley Heavy Duty 22 lb. Capacity Electric Dryer When I push the start button in and turn, it will not start the dryer. The timer still operates but the drum will not turn and no heat. Trying to decide if it is the timer-dryer or the thermal fuse. You show the exact timer-dryer that is installed in this Crosley in your picture. (whirlpool Ap4047639) The dryer was working fine and just stopped half way through the cycle. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Steve, Without a model number, that's going to be a little tough. But that particular manufacturer did not use thermal fuses in that type dryer at the time it was produced. You're going to want to check the door switch circuits and wiring. Then check the timer start switch for a momentary contact when the dial is pressed. Read More...
Eric February 17, 2013 for Model Number mdg2706aww My dryer does not automatically turn off in the auto modes. Is there a moisture sensor or something like that need to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Eric, There is not a moisture sensor on this unit. Based on the information it sounds like contact in timer is sticking and timer would need to be replaced. Read More...
Ron January 03, 2013 for Model Number MDET336AYW....37001240 PART Install a new timer and wires seem to be right. The dryer will not start but has power. Light and buzzer works.
1 Answer Hello Ron, You will want to check the exhaust thermal fuse WP40113801 to make sure that it is not blown. Also check your venting from the blower wheel to the outside of the home to make sure that it is clear. An obstructed vent or blower wheel will cause the thermal fuse to blow and will not allow the motor to start. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Carolyne B December 12, 2012 for Model Number Amana ND2335AZW My dryer won't heat at all most of the time. Some times it's a bit warm but not much. When I put it at normal dry, the timer stops moving at the middle of the cycle. But it continues it's cycle eternally. I have to stop it manually (open the door) otherwise it will never stop. The 2 other cycles are ok. Goes from start till the end normally but no heat.
2 Answers Hi Carolyne, it could be an element 61927 or high limit/thermal fuse R9900489 failure but you should also check and clean your dryer venting for any restrictions. Here's a link to help you determine what you might need. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/repair-help/dryer-repair-help.html#electric Read More...

2 Answers Hello Carolyne, You will want to check to make sure that you do not have an open heating element. Also check for the hi limit thermostat tripping easily or early open. Check the regulating thermostat for tripping easily or being open. Check to make sure that your thermistors are closed and not open. Also if the normal cycle that you are using is sensor dry you would want to check resistance on the sensor bars. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Chris March 03, 2012 for Model Number ADG7005AWW Looking at the electrical schematic, when the dryer is in regular heat auto mode, the timer motor should get power through the cycling thermostat which will send power to the V terminal on the 3-position switch. The switch won’t affect this except when LI to C (regular heat) continuity is disrupted. I checked the V terminal (connected to the same orange wire as the cycling thermostat) with the dryer running (reg heat and auto) and there was no power. But I think this is the case most of the time since the cycling thermostat is probably not in the position to send power to the timer. Am I off base? If not, what next?
1 Answer Hello Chris. Yes, you tested it properly. Ok, if the motor is not getting power from the orange wire coming off the cycling thermostat, and the thermostat is new, you will need to trace and see where you are loosing the power at. The cycling thermostat has to drop the blue wire from the purple wire and send voltage to the timer motor through the orange wire. The temperature switch is testing good, according to continuity, and you have power at the blue wire. Make sure the cycling thermostat is hooked up correctly, I'm sure it is , but it does not hurt to check and see. The cycling thermostat has 5 terminals on it, and you will only use three. You will use the two large and the small one by the large terminal according to the diagram. If it is wired properly, you will need to run the unit and trace and see where you are loosing the power on the orange wire at. Hopefully this is not confusing you. Thank you and Good luck!! Chris March 03, 2012 for Model Number ADG7005AWW I did not mention in my first question about “no timer movement in both auto dry modes” that I checked the temperature switch. When in fluff mode, there was continuity between LI and V, when in delicate mode there was continuity between LI and C and between LI and I and between C and I, when in regular mode there was continuity between LI and I. I assume these are the correct readings. If they are then I am still at a loss of what to do next.
1 Answer Hello Chris. You will need to test and see if the switch in regular auto, applies power to the V terminal. If not, replace the switch. V sends power to the timer motor from the switch to advance the timer. Hope this helps. Read More...
Chris March 03, 2012 for Model Number ADG7005AWW The timer for my dryer does not move when in the auto dry modes (regular and wrinkle free) but it does move when in the time-dry mode. I have replaced the timer unit (AP4047639), the cycling thermostat (ap4047610), the limit thermostat (ap4290151) and the Dryer thermal fuse (ap4048636). The timer still does not move when in the auto dry modes and when in the time-dry mode the dry times are unusually long. It seems like the temperature in the dryer is not as hot as it should be (there is heat, just seems a little lower than "normal")but I haven't measured it. I'm at a loss what to do next.
1 Answer Hello Chris. If the temperature switch WP37001164 is bad, then there is no power sent to the timer motor and it will not advance. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Dave January 27, 2012 for Model Number mde2706ayw I have a dryer that when you push in the control knob to start that also controls the time, and starts the heat. The button will not stay pushed in which than will not keep dryer running. If you push and hold knob in it will start and run but not heat up. Does this need part # ap4047639 or do you think it could be something else? Thank you for your help and advise.
1 Answer Hello Dave. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the run winding in the motor is bad and will need to be replaced. If you hold in on the timer, you are running the motor on the start winding. When you let got, the switch should send the power to the run winding. You will need to replace the motor WP2200376. Hope this helps. Read More...
John El January 25, 2012 for Model Number 336-675-3036 Timmer stoped working , dryer turns on but timer doesnt move and now onle heats for a few minets and then goes cold, will the timer being broke cause it to not heat and will replacing the timer fix the problem or is it just the fuse inside the dryer causing the problem.
1 Answer John, Based on your post, the best guess would be the timer could be the issue for both the complaints you have. My information does not have a thermal fuse in the heter circuit, at this point, we don't need to travel in that direction. But a damaged contact inside the timer could be the issue. You didn't supply a proper model number, and we've gone as far as possible at this point. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
